Man the running game in first half of Idaho game scared me pretty good. We couldn't get much going

It's called backup center.

As soon as Lonergan went in, the blocking was pretty dominant and the running game really took off.

The op asked if LSU was fundamentally sound. Why inject Bama into a question about LSU?

To the op, LSU is a fundamentally sound team in most areas. We still gave too many penalties and there are some miscues in our young defensive backfield but mostly LSU is well coached and highly conditioned with a qb that has a working knowledge of the game. Our runningbacks hold on to the ball and o-line has players that can play multiple positions and understand each others roll in the blocking scheme.

All LSU needs to do is limit penalties and continue to improve each week under the instruction of our top notch coaching staff.

... wha ?? ... Dude - you can't be serious ? Arky LOST to LA-Monroe ! Did not have several starters , including QB against 'Bama. New temp. head coach , a team in disarray, best Arky team in years ?? .. UM WAY overrated, and will drop OUT of Top 20 after Notre Dame hammers them Saturday.... You are delusional . Get real .

a sound/discipline minded/a-hole coach is better (and wins more games against) than a nice guy, relaxed, family man, "its ok, we'll do better on the next play" kind of coach.. JMO. I think Miles is a great coach, but you will need strong team discipline to beat Saban when it counts. (a talented, disciplined team is better than a talented less than disciplined team on more days than not)Anybody who doesn't see that is not playing with a full deck...

What about an evenly matched loose team versus an uptight team.

LSU will never be as sound and disciplined as Bama and Saban. Miles doesnt coach that way... And it showed on 1/9. Hope we dont have a repeat of last year in the BCS Title game, because team discipline will win that one too. JMO

Your opinion blows.

What is discipline to you?

Here are a 2 stats so far this year for you.

Third down conversions:

LSU 18-36 - 50%
Your man crush Saban's Gumps 13-31 - 41.9%

Penalty Yardage:
LSU: 156 Yards
Bama: 139 Yards

Pretty similar to me.

Id say we are much more well rounded and multidimensional this year. Unlike previous years, I think we have several ways we can beat opponents this year which of course remains to be tested.

Im looking forward to winning one on Metts arm.

To beat Bama, we just have to play better than them. Jesus some of you are buying into the hype. We are just as talented as they are and just as well coached. Whoever plays better will win the game.

Logic and rationale have no place here, sir!!

Well when you're talking early season rankings between the top two teams what happened the last game of the year counts. There would be no reason to give LSU the edge. We will beat them, but they deserved to be considered the favorite right now.

YES, LSU IS FUNDAMENTALLY SOUND. not perfectly sound but no team is. Miles is doing a good job of winning games, bringing mett along slowly, and playing a lot of young players. LSU has not needed to PEAK early because of the schedule. I believe we will PEAK in good time and that bama is much, much closer to its top level of performance. all said, we will beat them as long as we don't repeat last year's mistakes such as poor ol blocking, poor qb play (I think both have improved considerably) and most importantly we must WIN THE TURNOVER BATTLE.
