Do they tweak the seedings you think to create interesting super matchups?

I don’t see the forestry board. Is that somewhere near the Pickleball board?

No. I think the matchups are interesting no matter what they end up being.

They were critiqued for this previously. And for making location more important than seeding. So now all 16 host have a national seeding along with their 1 regional seeding.

I think they do tweak some things within reason to try to create certain matchups despite the committee’s insistences that they don’t.

I’ve always thought there is tinkering within the seed line and that it’s not a true 1-64 seeding. And I think it’s done more in baseball for geographic reasons. I think the tinkering happens there in the regional pairings.

I has appeared in the past that they would pair some SEC teams in supers to limit how many sec team were in Omaha. Not sure if they will do that this year.

Screwing Skip Bertman in his final season immediately comes to mind.

So, yes, they do. Nothing is a "consistent coincidence" in anything.

Idk about baseball, but I know for basketball they start by ranking 1-68 in order. And then once they have that locked in they are allowed to move teams +- 1 seed line for location/matchups. For example, teams 9-12 in the field will get a 3 seed, but they can move them to a 2 or 4 if they need to. I’d imagine they can do similar things for baseball.

Follow the money. Ratings makes money. Ratings are dependent on storylines. Storylines capture eyeballs.

They only rank the top 16. They need to go ahead and start ranking the field 1-64.

They knew the Tulane super would be a packed house, and they were right.
