He needs a more talented, deeper roster that's not so devastated by the whims of one or two season-ending injuries.
It's not just McMahon that has underperformed due to talent deficits caused by injuries. Someone posted here earlier that an entire season (2001?) was lost due to Lamont Roland's season ending torn ACL. Similar to what happened to the 1993-94 Tigers when Randy Livingston went out-- they had started the year strong and when he went down in a critical game vs Arkansas the team proceeded to lose their last 10-11 games.
But, John Brady and Dale Brown had each established lines of credit before those unfortunate events. Coach McMahon has no credit to fall back on.

I have never heard a single person say that he would be coaching here next season…have you?

The only person who will be back next year in the men’s basketball program will be Kent Lowe

Verge put it pretty bluntly earlier that he HAD to make the tournament, I mean this is pretty black and white
Verge also recently backtracked from that statement on a podcast with Jordy Culotta. Made a few excuses for the season. Lady Moscona said he spoke to a few people that said the big money is in no hurry to do for basketball what they did for football after spending what they did for it. As much as it sucks, they’re laying the groundwork for another morgue season in the PMAC unless something drastic happens.
