I wouldn't have agreed with you but after watching some film on it, you're 100% accurate. I took the "scheme is the issue" approach, but our players look like they're close to where they need to be (poor tackling and poor angles can be fixed quickly).

DL is the much bigger issue as the entire unit looks broken. Not just individual players.

As you can see, people are scoffing at your post because of how bad the whole defense looks. But the fact is, the D Line is the unit that actually has the dudes to be a lot better, and if they are a lot better the pressure on the rest of the defense decreases. Specifically, the DBs, which seem to be our weakest position currently.

The following needs to be fixed:
1. DL
2. OL
3. DB coverage and Tackling
4. S coverage
%. QB 1st Q slow starts.

The DL is a huge liability right now but based on the scheme Matt House runs, I’d say tackling across the board is the biggest liability right now.

I agree with you on the DL, but it isn't the biggest issue. The problem is multi faceted and I don't think one is bigger than or more important than the other.

-DL is not getting enough pressure on the QB. Somebody mentioned they are doing a Read & React type rush. To me that is wasting time as they try to figure out where the play is going. Call your DL rush and go with it. Do more blitzing to help the secondary out if you can't do it with 4 DL.

-Obviously secondary is down on talent and skill. So you have to help them out with DL pressure on the QB

-Tackling, bad angles, missing assignments, and zone coverages are as bad as I've seen at LSU. This is on the Defensive coaches.

Maason Smith shouldnt be playing inside. Not enough arse on him. Not sure if he is quick enough to play DE either. Jefferson is a big upgrade over Smith at DT.
Perkins just isnt being used right. Shouldnt be going head to head with OLs. Weeks is our best defensive player right now and should be in every down from start of the game

To stress how important it is to win in the trenches, consider this - since 2018 Alabama has had a combined 11 DL/OL taken in the first and second round of the NFL draft. During that same period, LSU has had one OL drafted in the first two rounds.

Alabama wins because it controls both sides of the line. As a result, Alabama's defense dominates opposing offenses because they win up front, which makes life so much easier on the LBs and DBs. I'm not saying that will solve every defensive problem, but getting solid DL play will increase our chances of winning exponentially!

DL has issues, but it isn't the DL's fault that multiple receivers EVERY game are left wide arse open.

Hell, there was one WR for Ole Miss who was so all alone on his TD pass that he's now getting treated for depression.

Wingo was reaking havoc against FSU in the 1st half. He disappeared in the 2nd half and hasn't been heard from since. I thought Smith and Wingo playing side by side was going to dominate. What happened? Even if Smith is not back to speed, I thought Wingo would benefit.
