I'm right otherwise, Jordan Allen would be an issue too. Some of the best MLB's are white. It's his projected potential that have these morons tripping...Oh and Go frick yourself

I like the idea of Welter in the middle. Hard work can overcome a lot. Maybe DJ busted his arse, is determined, and is going to overcome his mistake last year. All you are doing is slighting him for his body of work, which is 2 years ago and only 5 plays.

I understand your point, but there are numerous examples of kids overcoming adversity. Let's hope this is another example.

You are apparently more worried about a good story than good LB play.

Why was it that when Jimmy The Greek told the
whole truth about black history, slavery, and the black athlete, you boys didn't like those facts. But it's OK when the facts sometimes suit ya'!

Jordan Allen

Is not starting right now and if he was, it's at a position where LSU is thin and there would be an assumption that once all the studs arrived in the fall, things might change. Heck, I think some might be assuming that now. He's the third DE, but can easily end up the No. 5 if he doesn't kick some butt in August.

I don't remember the reaction to Steltz, but he had a study rise through the ranks, didn't he?

I'll just say this:

1. LSU has not been prone to having a desire to have a "token" white guy out there. If their best 11 are all black, there has been no hesitation to roll with that.

2. MLB is a position that's a little different from the two outside positions because it requires so much play calling and positioning on top of being a more physical position. Sheppard was a technician and didn't start full time until his fourth season. Minter was a third and fourth-year player who was also a smart technician when he was the starter. It seems to me that, outside of Lamar Louis and Feist (who's playing DE), the rest of the young LBs are more natural OLBs because they are all on the light side and Welter has an advantage of years in Chief's scheme.

3. If he's so terrible, why was there little hesitation to giving him snaps in the bowl game? Minter would play beginning to end in the regular season unless games got out of hand. In the bowl, he got to rest in what was eventually a 1-point game. Didn't it seem like, at that point, there was more trust in Welter than anybody else?

My guess is he is the starter for TCU, but depending on how he does, that could change by the heart of the SEC schedule as some of the young LBs, in their second year in the defense, get more comfortable with it. Chief doesn't want somebody at the position who isn't ready mentally to handle the responsibilities. Once some of these young players are ready, then Welter's really going to have to step his game up to maintain.

But again, it says something that Sheppard and Minter were in their fourth and third seasons, respectively, before they became the starters.

he was getting driven back 4 yards by QBs on 8 yard first down runs in the Chic Fila Bowl. I think Minter was out because of an injury, not to get Welter out there.

Some of these guys don't want to confused with the facts! Racism is a lot simpler solution for the simple-minded!

No silly white hope stuff please!

I know this is going to ruin some of your Good Friday....

Lamin Barrow said "DJ is having a hell of a Spring right now...the way he's progressing, nobody is going to beat him"..."He has tenacity about him that you can feel playing next to him"....Lamin would not just say that for the sake of saying that...relax!

What's all the fuss about?? Must be that dreaded melanin deficient skin condition Welter has...

If anything some of you should be more concerned about Barrow's inconsistent pass coverage ability...it's all a work in progress...

The two leading tacklers in the NFL last season were Luke Kuechly & Chad Greenway...no their not from the SEC...But they are more than capable in the NFL! That is all...

It's not p.c. to tell the unedited truth about slavery, racial differences, or sexual preferences these days. Jimmy The Greek was fired for such a dastardly act of telling his version of the truth. Don't be so lazy...google his name and see what ya' get. If they distort what he said, I'll straighten ya' out because I heard it live at the time. I am a writer and researcher. The truth is my arena!

Couldn't have been too hurt, considering he finished with 19 tackles.

Still, where were the other young LBs when Minter was out? Why would Chief put in a guy who hadn't played all year?

why would chief put in Hatcher over Minter for most of 2011? Why would Chief keep going back to his prevent defense when it costs him games over and over?

well, that stat line he put up against UF came in spite of him sitting out a good bit of a series with an injury. the dude just know how to tackle.
