I know we rarely talk about the Majors but this deserved some recognition!

Former LSU Tiger DJ LeMahieu has decided to hit the ball like it slept with his sister and never called her back! He does not hit Home Runs but he is showing the Majors that he is an everyday and I just might add him to my fantasy team now.

Through his first 6 games of 2015:

12/25, .480 BA, 5 RBI, 3B, SB, 7 Game Hitting streak (last game of 2014 he got a hit and all six games this season he has at least 1 hit)

It is early but he gets to play in a hitter's dream land, Colorado!

Don't be surprised if he finishes the season around .315 or .325 thanks to his ability to be patient at the plate. He hits towards the back of the lineup, which is also a good thing for him right now, and he plays 2B so he will be playing a good chunk of games this season!

I've been the playing MLB 15 the Show and he is always a top three player in B.A.

Not real life, but still interesting lol.

.315-.325? That's extremely doubtful. Not to be a downer but 6 games is less than 3 percent of the season.

Edited for math

Totally not true...

Closer, but 6 games is 3.7% of a season.

I think the Rockies would be ecstatic if he hit .280

the OP makes it sound like he's unaware Lemahieu started 150 games last year for Colorado and won a gold glove. And I also would pump the brakes on his BA. The Rockies would be more than pleased if he hit .275. he's not in the lineup for his hitting. He had the best dWAR in the major leagues last year and, iirc, by a pretty wide margin

Why not? I know we are only 6 games into the season, but if he goes 0-13 in his next 13 at bats, he will be hitting .315. It will take a few bad games for him to drop his BA that much, and who says he can't keep this pace up for a few more games? I don't think he will maintain a .315 BA in the majors, but I also wouldn't be surprised because of the way he has started the season off.

You're talking about 8-10 games in the context of a 162 game season.

The closest he's gotten to .300 was when he hit .297 for the Cubs in 81 games a few years back. I'd love for him to hit .320 or so throughout a full season but that's not really his game.

He's a so-so hitter and an elite defender. Nothing wrong with that.

because of statistical variance. he's on a hot streak right now. over the course of a 162 game season, expect him to go through a 6 game slump to balance things out. It's not a knock on him, but he's just not a .300+ hitter. He's successful because he's established himself as one of the better infielders in the major leagues.

As a Rockies fan I'm very optimistic about DJ this year. He will have a good amount of runs as he is hitting in the 9 hole, behind the pitcher, so essentially he is hitting 2nd lead-off. Meanwhile, he's followed in the line-up by a good hitting Charlie Blackmon, a resurging Carlos Gonzales and then Tulo. If the Rockies stay healthy, DJ could be looking at a chance at the NL All-Star team spot and a consecutive Gold Glove

A .270-.300 average in the bigs is pretty damn good. He will have a long career as long as he stays healthy, continues to be an elite middle infielder and stays around those averages. Too early to tell what he will end up in average wise. IMO ~.285 10HR's 60's in RBI's, .400OBP with a .970 FLD pct.
