I always thought Bower played rather "stiff" although I love his motor. MD is going to be a stud once he learns the defense...

Losing C Thompson (6'2"/222) in this spot was HUGE. As a converted S, he was a perfect fit in Aranda's D defining this OLB pos as one matching up with the TE or potentially even a RB out of the backfield. I think this will be challenging for both Bower and Divinity due to speed, aptitude and experience. Either way we'll play good 11 v 11 football, and get after it!

D white will be starting very soon. Dude is animal. He will not have any issues picking up the running back out of coverage.

My understanding of Aranda's and most modern 3-4's is you want one big body inside and one player who is a little more versatile. I think White is the guy who they want to replace Beckwith and although on certain plays I believe you can hAve both in together, in general I think you'll see White in Beckwith's place more often than lining up next to him. I know, I know, he's runs a 4.5, blah, blah, blah, but it doesn't mean he can read keys, pass protect, and move laterally as well as Duke.

Why would he need to pass protect?

Les said during his show last night that the slowest LB runs a 4.6, 40.... That is scary

I can think of several examples, but here's one: You send your OLB and SS on a blitz and you have a TE or slot guy run a slant route across the middle...

Aranda loves him.. He's put on some weight but still moves well. I'm pumped about this linebacker core

Bower and key are both gonna have great years . I think it's obvious that key will get a lot of sacks but I also see aranda being sneaky by dropping him into coverage , I can see him snagging a couple picks this year from running back /tight ends .

Divinity was a #1 olb in country. Dude is fast and violent. He will be a star. Bowers no chump and divinity has pretty much outplayed him. EE was big for him and our D

I can't see Bower trying to cover somebody.

...but can you see Thompson trying to rush the edge against a 300 lbs tackle? It is a quandary, indeed.

The BUCK OLB is the rush OLB. F is more contain and coverage.

I'm wondering if this is a really good sign and Divinity is just a stud. Or does this mean we are really struggling to find a good fit for that 4th LB position.
