Did you see something different in Hurd after the 2 HR's.

I did I saw intensity and him pitch with emotion. Not just up there throwing pitches. He was really challenging the batters and pitching with a purpose.

It was like he was pissed.

I would’ve been pissed too. Some of those pitches the ump called balls, no way I could’ve just gone back to work without a look, a hand gesture, saying something to him. No damn way. They were right down the D.

That umps strike zone was as inconsistent as Bud Light missing their target market

I thought he looked good throughout the outing, honestly. The home runs sucked but challenging guys who don't have a ton of pop with a lead in the 9th is smart. It just so happened he made a few mistakes in conjunction with the ball starting to really carry to the shorter right field dimensions.

If Hurd throws strikes he will generally be successful. The stuff is good.

Pitch calling was different in his first inning. He threw a lot of off speed and sliders. Inning 2 with the homers were mostly fast balls. Third and fourth was a good mix.

Completely agree and I loved seeing that out of him as well.

It was also cool to see a few of the players run up to him and congratulate him immediately after the win. Skenes and Travinski come to mind but there were a few others as well.

That's the Hurd I've wanted to see all year. "Killer" Hurd, with tunnel vision focus. Not "trying" to pitch, but just out there pitching...dealing.

The first home run of that inning came on the 4th pitch of the at bat. 3 of the 4 were sliders, which followed the previous inning where the last 7 pitches were sliders.

Indeed he did, and hope he finally saw the light.
After those Homers he located perfectly and had that extra snap and started to look like the guy we hoped to have all year.
Who needs Marsupials?
Maybe it’s the year of the
“Golden Glove”.

When he walked off the field after giving up 2 homeruns, he looked like he was ready to murder the home plate umpire. Some of his teammates were trying to lift him up and he wasn't having any of that either. I just remember how intense he looked at that point.

From there forward MOST of his first pitches were STRIKES! That was away from the norm

I was OK with the homers, in the fact I would much more prefer seeing strikes thrown than the walks we have seen the last few weeks out of the pen.

Had Thompson not dropped the fly ball, we never get to see Hurd's intensity and perseverance after the two bombs were hit. I feel as if last night's extra innings gave this team the shot in the arse they've needed for a while now. I see a 10 run early ending this evening.
