idk about desperate but i think he saw the opportunity was there and absolutely took it when he could.
Based off the last 4 ish year Jay wants to use as few pitchers as possible on friday, while also guaranteeing a win.
So that’s the balance

Yes he did like always. A quick Google search could find several articles about the game with them in it. But since you're too lazy.
quote:
"I think the tempo he was pitching with, it seemed like he was getting ahead in the count more as the game went along," Johnson said. "And I did not think they were seeing him very well. (It was a) combo of his tempo and they were clearly disrupted. So I felt like I would give them momentum by taking him out of the game."
He did, however, acknowledge that if a runner had reached base in the seventh, eighth or ninth innings, and he was forced to pitch out of the stretch, he would've come out of the game.
"The fact that he was getting stronger, the fact that he's well conditioned for it," Johnson said. "It was, honestly, some of the easier decisions in a tight game we've had this year."

Lsu Baseball and Jay do not do a post-game press conference, like they do at home, when on the road.
You wont find it posted on YouTube like it is after a home game.
The info you will get will be limited in nature from a reporter asking him a question 1on1.
When they get back to Baton Rouge, Jay will do a recap of the weekend. That will be the first opportunity for the local guys to ask questions.

Clearly that was a major reason why he did it. Along with Kade being razor sharp. But why would he “admit” that was part of his thinking. Is anything gained by trashing your bullpen (other than Cowan and Evans) in the press?

I mean why won't he just admit it, though. It's very interesting that he won't.

why he pushed anderson to 135 pitches
It was probably the other way around. Anderson is a dog, and he was telling Jay, "I'm not coming out."

You are exactly right. Jay will never trash any of his players. If anything he tends to be to overly positive towards his guys in public.
Even if he feels uneasy about his bullpen you will never hear it. Personally, I think the bullpen will be ok and get better and better. When we get to postseason Jay will likely ride his dependable arms and the other guys won't see the field. How many times did Riley Cooper, Ack, or Herring pitch in the post season vs down the bullpen guys?
He will ride his best arms as we go and when a dude is absolutely demolishing the other team like Anderson was last night, I say you ride with him.

What in the actual frick is gained by acknowledging a major part of the reason Kade went 9 innings is the struggles our bullpen guys (again other than Cowan and Evans) have had? Do you actually think the guys who have struggled throwing strikes out of the pen don't know they are struggling? And do you think their coach trashing them publicly for struggling will help the problem? Everyone on the team knows our bullpen struggles were the main reason Kade got extended to 135 pitches. They don't need to read it or hear it in the press.

I mean it wouldn’t be that out of the ordinary to say it would help save the bullpen for the rest of the weekend.

One day you will be the head coach of a LSU team and then you can answer the media however you want to.

No coach is going to say that and you know it

It doesn’t take very long to see you criticizing coaches and players in your post history. I don’t see anyone melting down over it like you are right now. I promise you it will be ok. This isn’t worth that much of your attention

I have no doubt that all of you pitch count pussies are the same ones bitching about the bullpen. If you actually watch the game, his last 4.5 innings were way stronger than the first 4.5. Anderson was getting stronger as the game went on. His performance in the 7-9 innings was amazing, and he deserved to stay in.

I have done plenty of bashing of coaches and players in my post history. But at some point don't we all grow out of that? I haven't posted in a basketball thread for a year or two now. What's the point? Just bashing the coach over and over isn't goint to accomplish anything.
But it just set me off this week watching you tell everyone how you would do it better than Kim Mulkey. And how you would coach and handle the media better than Jay Johnson. Don't you know how silly that looks?
I still disagree with some moves that Jay makes, and some moves Kim might make, but I'm not going to only get on here and criticize them without pointing out how much better the programs are with them leading than what we had before. I guess that was my point of the Yeskie thread I started this morning. Everyone just gripes, gripes, and gripes without giving credit when things go well.
At some point don't you want to sit back and enjoy the season? At the very least it should caution you to not be the SFP of the Tiger Rant.

Why do you think? Does that even need to be asked?

Does anyone need to be told that? I mean other than really clueless people. We’ve all watched the games and seen the bullpen struggles. Those kids are fighting to get meaningful innings the rest of the year. Getting trashed in the media isn’t going to help anything. Well, other than the clueless people who expect to be told the obvious.

Yeah because every school has deep bullpens at this point, right? This bullpen could very well be the best in the nation when it is all said and done. Eat a shite sandwich, dawg

For clueless people, I guess, you need to be told obvious things. For example, I don’t need to be told by Brian Kelly why he went for two when LSU is down by 8 and score a TD with two seconds left. You, on the other hand, might need that info. But I wouldn’t expect Kelly to have to explain that at a press conference.
