Did anyone on this board see Clyde Edwards-Helaire play in high school?

In the No huddle Pitt vs UNC video put together by geauxtigahs87

........................ CAR .....YDS....TD.....LONG
Q. Henderson......9........107.......0........37
J. Conner............16.........66.......1........27
C. Moss................7.........47.......1........13

Quadree Henderson had 107 yards on 9 carries, 3 receptions for 13 yards, five K-O returns for 128 and 1 PR for 1 yard. That was 249 yards for him in the UNC game.

He lined up at WR and I'm pretty sure all of his carries were on jet sweeps.

Quadree was a 3-star recruit according to 24/7. He is 5'9" 172 pounds. He was ranked as the 672nd player in the nation and the 13th all-purpose RB in the 2015 class.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire was a 3-star composite/4-star by 24/7 who is 5'7" and 191 pounds. He was ranked as the 397th player in the nation and the 5th all-purpose RB in the 2017 class.

I have been saying that CEH will fill the role of Quadree for LSU based on some Dandy Don info and his bio on the LSU website.

Dandy:
quote:

Mike D: Clyde is not very tall, but he is very nifty, very strong for his size and runs with excellent body balance, and where he can make a difference is as a receiver. He catches the ball well. He gets lost in the crowd and then flows out the back end with his runs. But I think he will be effective as a receiver early on.

quote:

Scott: And Edwards-Helaire jumps into the “next great back” discussion from the beginning because of what he did at Catholic High once he stepped in for Guice.

Edwards-Helaire could slide into a role similar to a third-down back in the NFL — a receiving threat out of the backfield who gives quarterback Danny Etling (or whoever it might be) a tantalizing safety-valve option in open space
https://www.dandydon.com/ 7/25 report

quote:

A 4-star prospect by 247Sports and ESPN ... Rated a 3-star recruit by Rivals and Scout

Named the 2015 Class 5A Championship Most Outstanding Player after leading Catholic High to a 31-28 victory against Archbishop Rummel High School as he caught eight passes for a record 161 yards and rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown

Became the first freshman to play varsity football in head coach Dale Weiner's 29 seasons at Catholic High School

Some more Henderson accolades:
quote:

earned Consensus All-America status as he was honored by each of the NCAA's five recognized selectors...named a first team All-America kick returner

named a second team All-America all-purpose player by Associated Press and American Football Coaches Association

became the first Pitt sophomore to earn consensus All-America status since wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald in 2003...Henderson was also the first All-America return man in Pitt history

compiled 2,083 all-purpose yards for the season, second only to legendary tailback Tony Dorsett in Pitt annals

Dorsett and Henderson are the only players in Pitt history to reach 2,000 all-purpose yards in a season

was the Panthers' second-leading rusher, netting 631 yards on 60 carries for an average of 10.5 yards per attempt...had two 100-yard rushing games: 107 yards on nine carries (11.9 avg.) at North Carolina and 103 yards on five carries (20.6 avg.) against Syracuse

Found this interesting, even though he is listed as a receiver:
quote:

.had 26 catches for 286 yards (11.0 avg.) on the season...compiled 10 total touchdowns, reaching the end zone in four different ways...had five rushing touchdowns, three kickoff return touchdowns, one receiving TD and one punt return score
He had 60 carries on the season.

I bet Quadree will miss Coach Canada this season.

I'm curious as to whether anyone who has seen CEH play also thinks Coach Canada can make CEH into the next Quadree Henderson.

Yes I saw him. I think he's the steal of the class. He's gonna be a pleasant surprise for folks that don't know him and are star gazers

I saw him in the jamboree last year vs Sullivan, looked good to me. Small but runs tough and very shifty.

Holy crap. I hadn't seen that in a long time and had forgotten it was CEH that made "Bama boy" look like a uncoordinated and lost senior citizen. What a freaking MOVE !!!

They were pretty much in a box and he didn't even get touched.

I saw him. He only played a half before getting hurt. He didn't have that great of a game.

His brother was a freshman Last year when I talked to him. He said he was close to going to moo state over us but in the end Canada pursuaded him to stay.

Canada probably showed him some Quadree Henderson highlights.

Henderson has awesome speed and is an all American. Does Edwards-Helaire have similar speed?

I would guess that Chark will see a majority of the jet sweeps, but I could be wrong.

Yes
He toyed with Rummel in the state title game

Very shifty, great in open field, catches ball well out of backfield

Had some injuries in high school but so did Guice

I think Guice said it best, a smaller version of him

I have no idea, that's why I am asking. Pretty much everything I know about him was in my post. Except for the most spectacular move he put on the Bama commit to make him look like a lost idiot anyway.

Possibly, but in the UNC game 8 Pitt players (not counting the QB) had 2 or more carries. Canada will spread it around. I wouldn't be surprised to see Derrick Dillon and Clyde Edwards-Helaire on the field at the same time.

I'd imagine Gage and Dillon will see a lot of reps as the "sweep guy" this season.

Possibly Guice too with Williams in the backfield. I remember Guice housing that sweep (IIRC) against A&M in 2015.

With CEH being having a unique body style compared to our other skill players, I'd like to think past 2017 Canada will find all sorts of ways to work him in (amongst many others).

I also predict we will be sick of seeing the jet sweep at times because it is such a hit or miss play that's mostly used to set up the defense for the real play.
