We might be playing Thursday. Anyone pitching today would be on 4 days rest. That’s enough for a guy only pitching 2 or 3 innings, so that’s not the reason.
Peterson’s arm must be getting fatigued, and CPM wants to give him some rest to prepare for the real tournament.

Anyone pitching today will have five days rest before regionals. That’s more than enough for anyone who pitches less than about 80 pitches. So it’s really more about what they’ve done in the past. You can’t just count pitches. Peterson hasn’t thrown too many, but he’s had to warm up three times and throw hard. That’s about equivalent to a deep start, and it requires about five days rest. If this was Omaha I’m sure they would risk it, but it’s Hoover.
