Many of you completely overlooked the small things in the video. Not saying this is the same as catching a deep ball while diving, but still a nice catch. The confidence to make the catch turning his head early. That is a gift as a PR. Knowing you're going to catch the ball but getting an a glance at the defense get's you TM7-like returns. Hell I'd love to see our WR's make boring catches more often.

Second, can't imagine the arse chewing he'd get my dropping the ball even though it's practice. Also, those who practice one handed catches make them in games...OBJ and Landry for sure.

The getting there was more impressive than the catch.

four sport varsity high school athlete and I promise you that catch is way harder with one hand than you make it out to be. It looks like a slow lob because of the arc but that ball is thrown way harder than you are suggesting.

I played qb and threw that pass hundreds of times in practice and pre-game...it is thrown with touch. If you are impressed by it that's all that matters...i don't think it's a "great" catch.

No it is not a great catch. It’s a solid and smooth catch. I just had a problem with the guy saying anyone on this board could make the catch easily.

im not saying that. I had receivers that couldn't catch with 2 hands.

on a lighter note...Spencer Calahan could make that catch he does it in his commercials

hopefully this guy turns out to be the Rubberband Man.
You know the lyrics from the song: "everything he does, seems to come out right"!

I've made a better catch in my flag football league last week.

Not difficult at all to do that.

Watching a 4.3 forty athlete who can easily palm a regulation college football sure does give some people a false sense of self-worth when it comes to athleticism.

He wasn't running 4.3 in the video. It's a 1/4 speed drill. He caught a soft toss, high arc lob. I guarantee you, all the DBs on the roster can do it. He is a special talent. But he did not exhibit that talent in your video.

lets say this, if you are on that practice field as a walk on or on scholly, I would expect that you could make that catch easily.

As well as any semi-athletic man under 50

Well don't ever watch high school, college or NFL wide receivers. You will be crying yourself to sleep. They all try to catch with two hands and still don't catch everything thrown to them.

If catching a football one-handed was so easy EVERY NFL receiver would be doing it.

The people who catch balls as nonchalantly as Derek did usually make millions of dollars a year in the NFL. They don't post on the Tiger Rant about how easy it is to make one-handed catches.

BUT when the Rantard football team takes the field NARY a football would touch the ground. And the great Rantard athletes would never use two hands in the process. The greatness displayed on this board is second to none and is truly AMAZING.

NOT!!!

You sure spent a lot of time proving that everyone can drop a pass.

Well no shite. You're like arguing with a damn catfish

You really showed them! NFL players sometimes drop passes in games which means that Stingley casually catching a loft pass with one hand during a practice drill is highly impressive.

You just posted a bunch of gifs of players dropping balls running full speed, thrown hard, with defenders ready to lay them out. That’s totally comparable to jogging, ball floated to him, with no threat of getting hit. Totally the same thing.

If you were amazed by that, then OBJ catching passes one handed of the jugs machine must make your head explode.

Just didn't want you to be disappointed since you expect Walk-ons and any semi-athletic man under 50 to easily make the over the shoulder one-handed catch while running down the football field. That's all.
