Lmao he is a plus defender with very good speed and instincts along with really good contact skills with the bat. Yes he does lack power
I will take solid contact and someone batting over .300 all day long if he gets on base and pushes runs across the plate. He doesn't need to hit 20 HRs

I don't understand the hype behind this kid. Will be great if he goes to LSU and produces, but his stats sure seem average. He definitely isn't hitting for power.
We don't need double-digit HRs from him. We need a centerfielder who makes plays and can get on base. Watch the CWS. Those outfielders are making highlight plays. Our outfield this past season didn't do that and it cost us.

Not specific to this kid at all, but PG drives these ratings and they start rating kids at 13-14.
Again, nothing for or against this kid, but if you tear it up at one of the PG combines as a 14 year old and have a couple good weekends in a showcase, you are suddenly a 9-10 on PG and you carry that badge of honor with you for the entirety of your high school career.
Not an overstatement to say you can hit .800 as a high school junior and senior and if you don’t go to the right PG showcases you will still be rated lower than a guy who did go to the showcases and had a good weekend, even if the PG 9-10 kid hits .300 in high school.

I’m the guy that has actually seen him play. If he plays meaningful innings we are in trouble. Unless he gains 30 lbs of muscle in 7 months.

How many times have you seen him play?

7 games. All wood bat. He looked out of place physically compared to the other players on the field. Has decent speed but not elite for his level. All the kids on his team are power 5 commits and he looked like a younger kid playing up even though he wasn’t.
His high school stats senior year
314 avg. 12 extra base hits. 1 HR on high school fields and 1 triple with his elite speed.
But I’m sure he will be a freshman all American and hit 20HR next year.
What do I know. I only played D1 and know scouts. Kid was not getting drafted and is the same player he was as a HS freshman. That’s the scouting report on him. He has potential but has to get a lot stronger.

Anyone quoting their resume while talking bad about a prospect can't be taken seriously.
You have been in since 2018 and have 1100 post maybe take a break mister D1

Oh well, we didn't know all that. Of course, there is no way you are just making crap up on an anonymous internet message board.
Hey everyone, Flightnclouds has a message below:

It’s weird how people think they know more than a champion head coach and staff that do this for a living.

So you are implying that his defense is why he is rated so high? That would at least attempt to answer my question.
Looking at his stats, you may never see a home run out of him, much less double digits. His BA and OPS are average.

So why is he ranked so high? And talked about being drafted?
I'm really trying to understand this because I agree with you. Was his marketing just really good? Is his Dad famous or something? I just don't see it.

Kid is pulling out before he slips too far down draft board. He’s trying to save face and damage control. By pulling out he still gets good publicity by being “superstar” choosing to pass up millions to attend college. People don’t forgo millions to go to school.
Google Matt Harrison and Karston Whitson and see how that turned out.
