Most of us grew up in Louisiana playing against high level competetion. My freshmen year our varsity had 8 guys go to college. All of them hit better than that average wise that wasnt pitching.
anyone who played baseball in La. has played against high level competition. I faced a first rounder out of HS, multiple all Americans, and a couple big leaguers. That’s nothing compared to the completion Orange Lutheran (Curiel’s high school) faces.

Pretty much every team in his district was at the Catholic High or Barbe level.

Besides getting stronger, he gets to play in the SEC, rail cleat chasers, and use facilities light years ahead of any minor team. Dude was super smart for being patient.
