#1 Florida

OU only won a single national title. LSU and Florida have two each.

Sure. OU has BEEN to the NC game 4 times. And 2 out of those 4 times they lost to LSU or Florida!

Team of the decade - though - IMO, when this season is included - may end up depending on what happens in Baton Rouge on October 10th.

Ignoring your logic on USC...you can't put UF over LSU. Period.

Since 2000 we have won the same number of titles (both national champ and conference), been to the same number of BCS bowls, and have the same record in those bowls (Flawless).

But UF has some pretty damn medicore teams to their name thanks to Zook, and giving LSU a far better overall record %.

I am sick and damn tired of folks boosting UF up because of how good they are in the home stretch of the decade.

why do people think Florida is the team of the decade?

LSU has just as many BCS titles, just as many SEC titles, but more BCS bowl wins (4 to 3) and a better overall bowl record: 7-2 to 4-5.

Florida is not the SEC team of the decade.

Looks like I was beat to the punch.

Only reason I did is because of my assumption they will get the best of us this year.

They have 3 5-loss seasons this decade. We have 2. Not much difference.

Did 2000 and 2001 not happen? They won 10 games both years, won the SEC in 2000, and played in the Orange Bowl in '01. I'd put LSU ahead of Florida, but just barely. And it might be due to my bias.

But I'd have USC #1.

If LSU or UF win the NC this year they should go to #1. After this year the SEC rules all these types of polls.

At this point all of the top teams are tied for all practical purposes. If LSU, FL, Ohio State, USC, or OK wins, they will probably get the nod. If TX wins there would be more debate, but they would have a good case too.

From the list, it looks like only 2 schools have a set of balls sitting in their trophy case. Seems like it should be Florida and LSU and then everyone else.

Exactly!

Playing the pac 1 is not that impressive, considering the recruiting PC has had...

Last year took the sting out of our nice run...

Is Oregon State the team of the decade in college baseball?

What's your reasoning for USC fifth? I'm curious.

USC did have a losing record in 2000. We finished 6-6 in 2001. Both arguments for not being team of the decade. However SINCE 2002:

2 NCs, with an epic loss to Texas
7 consecutive AP top 4 finishes
a Record 6 BCS victories
a Record 7 consecutive BCS appearances
a Record 7 consecutive Pac 10 championships
a Record 33 consecutive weeks as AP No.1 ranked team
NCAA's first school to have 7 consecutive 11 win seasons.
Coaches Poll voted SC either #1 or #2 in 5 out of the last 6 seasons.
28-0 record in November
18-4 record vs TOP 25 Competition (Best in CF. Texas is next 13-4, Florida is 13-12)
11-3 record VS TOP 10 Competition (Best in CF. Florida is next with 10-12, LSU 5-10)
26 All-American 1st teamers
53 Players drafted in the NFL
14 Drafted in the first round
3 Heisman winners

Also had a 34 game winning streak at one point.

That's pretty impressive.

I stand corrected, we have a better overall record, but not by much.

LSU's Record:
8 5
12 2
11 2
11 2
9 3
13 1
8 5
10 3
7 4

UF's record:

10 3
10 2
8 5
8 5
7 5
9 3
13 1
9 4
13 1

The point still stands that objectively, there is no team statistic that puts UF over LSU.

It is close enough though to be decided one way or another after this year.

That is impressive, and right now I will put USC #1 on my decade ranking lists.

But at the end of the day, those two years DO count and it hurts significantly for overall comparisons.

If LSU or UF wins a national title this year (which is pretty damn likely, although more for the latter :P), USC loses most of their legit arguments for being #1.

Of course they'll probably still be crowned so.

Wrong, Florida lost 2000 (Jan 2001) Sugar Bowl to Miami, badly I might add.

imo you left off, maybe the most impressive stat.

Since 2001 they have not lost a game by more than 1 score. Not a single loss by more than 7 in 7 years.

Anyone who doesn't think they are the team of the decade is a blind, SEC homer.

what if USC wins it? That is more likely than LSU winning this year.
