Ree, I understand if it is part of your job to promote the football coach. That is great. What I don’t understand is you need to be down on the basketball coach. We all know it doesn’t look good.

Correct, “offer” could be anything. John Brady offered Stromile Swift a home game in Shreveport. His mom bit on that

Full ride, lots and lots of sweet LSU gear, a promise to send the family to the first NBA Younboy concert once he is released from prison, shhhhh we will take care of that one later.

This is the type of narrative our attorneys will build. LSU from what I understand has a group of very talented attorneys that should not have a problem with this.

Why do you think I am down on the basketball coach?

What I posted is from a person who I think is employed by LSU or covers LSU for one of the local media outlets. This was not my opinion but what was said in the linked tweet.

Why do you have a need to be down on the basketball coach?

my thinking is that it was an [explitive] good scholarship for a kid who will play 2-3 years...

that's my understanding. and if I'm CWW's lawyer, that's what I'm pushing.

Could mean playing time commitment or position guarantee or offer to help with off season conditioning or offer of extra academic assistance for difficult areas of study. It could be anything that recruitee's want offered to them. I didn't hear any numbers. I saw no evidence of payment. Speculation.

Not saying this happened, but just so we’re clear, an offer of money is a violation even if payment is never made. However it’s almost impossible to prove without a paper trail.

But if the conversation was between WW and whatshisname and not with a player and if the player never says YES I WAS OFFERED MONEY then what's the big deal??

I'm going with Silence is Golden.

What if the “offer” they discussed was the offer Dawkins got from another school and Wade was tired of that shite.

Uh the coach still offered to pay money for a player in this hypothetical. That’s a major violation. If the player was found to have received nothing and had nothing to do with it then he wouldn’t lose his eligibility. Again, without a paper trail it’s very hard to prove but it’s still a violation.

Sometimes it is impossible even with a paper trail and electronic messaging proof. Depends on who is being investigated I guess.

Yahoo - Documents, text messages reveal impermissible benefits to five SEC players
quote:

The identities of these players were revealed in a web of financial and text message records belonging to former Crimson Tide defensive end Luther Davis. The records were turned over to Yahoo Sports by a source with ties to the NFL agent community who alleged that Davis was acting as an intermediary between several high-profile college football stars and multiple NFL agents and financial advisers.

Not a damn thing happened.

If this were simply the case, then what would this "offer" have to do with his mother?

Everyone knows as a coach you're making your pitch to the athlete, but also Momma. You don't convince Momma, you ain't getting the athlete. Period.

In contracts at least, consideration (an offer) has to be specific for a good or service. Just saying "offer" isn't worth a damn. There also has to be acceptance of said offer. So unless there is a proof of a specified amount of the offer, and proof of acceptance, then the "offer" can be explained away pretty easily.

Yeah that works in a court of law but the NCAA is not a court of law. There doesn't have to be an acceptance of an offer for a violation to occur. Contract law is irrelevant here.

We'll see how far this goes, but as of now, the FBI, nor the NCAA, are targeting LSU for anything.

I have seen it posted on here (not corroborated it myself) that the NCAA requested the wiretaps from the FBI, but they were denied. So we'll see.

NCAA hasn't targeted anyone as of now because they have not obtained the FBIs files to start investigating anyone. The FBI is done with their investigation. They've had whatever tape yahoo allegedly has.

They did, it was a Motion filed in court to intervene that was denied without prejudice (meaning they can refile) for being improperly filed and for not stating a legal basis as to whether a court has the legal authority to allow an intervenor in a criminal case for the purpose of reviewing evidence.

"simply playing time"

This is the key. A Schollie is a schollie so you can't go there, but if the "offer" guaranteed him big minutes despite Tremont Waters at PG, well, maybe ...
