Of the 7 FBS teams LSU has faced this year, 6 of them are ranked 35th or better in Total Defense. 5 of these defenses are ranked 17 or better in scoring defense.

In comparison, of the 8 FBS teams Bama has faced, 7 of them are ranked 63rd or worse in Total Defense. And get this, these same 7 defenses are ranked 89th OR WORSE in scoring defense!

The discrepancy of competition each team has faced is real, and WILL be a factor next Saturday.

No matter what Alabama's previous opponents, record or schedule, they always turn it up an extra notch when they face LSU.

It will be a great challenge for the Tigers no doubt. But not the impossible challenge some are making it out to be.

Are these stats before Bama throttled them with 50+ and 500yards or after? Not that it should effect the rankings THAT much but there is definitely a big chunk of yards and points poured into those stats after facing Bama.

I don't think the Bama offense is as good as Bama fans think it is, but they are still very good. The offensive output in the A&M game was impressive considering A&M isn't terrible on defense

I don't think there's a chance Alabama crumples like Purdue, if that's what you're saying, but some of our worst teams of the past 10 years have played Alabama to the wire.

We seem to pull a perfect game our of arse ourselves.

They have a good team, not an unbeatable one.

agreed. Look at the LSU vs UGA game. LSU was a double digit underdog (I think +10), and the crowd and defense rattled Fromm into what I think was his worst game.

If Tua throws a pick early or gets pressured/sacked more than he has previously, I see LSU winning this game. I don't think Bama's defense is as good as they have been, and their offense hinges on controlling the line so the QB has time to throw deep and of course so the running backs can gash you to keep Bama rolling.

I'd love to see LSU control the line in this game with numbers for pressure and to stop the run. If Tua has time he's gonna need to remain as accurate as he has been against a great defensive backfield.

That’s a good point but one bad game does not affect the ranking as much at this point in the season. Georgia is #17 in total defense after we put 500 yard of offense on them. Also Texas A&M is #22 in total defense after Bama put up over 500 yards of offense on them. If playing Bama alone made a team’s defensinve rankings low, then TAMU’s ranking would be low too. The other defenses Bama has played are just not good and have not been good in most of their games. That’s why they are ranked as low as they are.

It can actually. Especially the TDs. The diff between 10 spots can be 1-2 TDs given up.

Fair enough. So the second best scoring defense they have played, Tennessee, improves from 89 to 79. Still pretty poor.

They say that their offense is the sole reason their opponents rank so low. legitimately believe this.

This is starting to get ridiculous. Look Bama's offense is the best they have had since Saban started this Dynasty. There's no getting around that. Tua is not McCarron, McElroy, Coker, Hurts,or Blake Sims. He is the real deal. They will score points. Lsu just has to be able to score with them and not get FG's. Does it make you feel better knowing that instead of 50 points they will score 30? I mean do you really think that because they haven't played anybody worth a damn that their offense is trash? Tua will most likely win the Heisman and then be a top 5 pick in the draft next year. LSU will have to win this game on the back of Burrow. Without the game of his life from him we get throttled

No I don’t. Where did I say this? I am saying that it is possible that the perception of how great their offense is may be inflated due to the amount of poor competition they have played. We will find out next Saturday.

Yea just about every single prolific offense in the history of college football has played a handful of terrible defenses. Does that take away the fact that they are still the best offense we will have faced all year by far? They are going to score points on us and most likely the most we've given up all year. I'm just trying to figure out why this has to be mentioned so damn much. We all know how good Bama is. This is a better team imo then the past 7 that have beat us.

Once again, I didn’t say they wouldn’t be the best offense we face all year. I just think considering who they have played when looking at their offensive output is something that should be put into perspective. If you don’t agree, then we will just have to agree to disagree. And I would like to see how they do next Saturday before I say they are the best Alabama team we have played in the last 7 years. Maybe they are, maybe they are not.

I'm sure he's going to have lots of time. Alabama doesn't get called for holding.

I understand where you are coming from. I just keep seeing people saying Bama hasn't played anybody constantly like that matters at all. We all know how good that program is and how they have beat us 7 years in a row etc. They are the most talented team in the country with the best coach in the country. They are a machine right now and have completely dominated everyone put in front of them. LSU fans just hate to give credit where credit is due. Until we beat them then you can talk shite about them not playing anyone otherwise it sounds stupid.

They really haven't played anyone. A&M at home and Tennessee on the road are their toughest games.

Compare that to UGA at home and Florida on the road for us
