I was listening to Condon earlier and a guy called in saying he was friends with a guy on the offensive line. He went on to say that MSU linebackers knew exactly where LSU was running the ball. Condon confronted him and asked who his friend was and he told him "Lyle Hitt". I tend to think there may be some truth to this, how else could you explain our running game being so bad????

the real questions(if this is true) are how they knew and how are they going to change it?

well, when you run off rt tackle and up the middle the whole time i think it is easy to know what play we are going to run, or at least which way.

he did, said he was immediate family with 1 starting OL, and close friends with another. I think he's Josh D's brother.

That's what happens when you have as conservative of a playbook that we have. We only run certain plays from certain formations and there isn't any mixing it up.

If a fan can see what play were gonna run on TV, what's stopping coaches who watch film hours upon hours from seeing it?

It's not rocket science.

I have been wondering for several years now why the NCAA doesn't allow teams to put head sets in the QB helmets like they do in the NFL. Its not like they need to know hand signals to get ready for the NFL.
If MSU broke the hand signal code you damn sure know they will tell UM and Florida.

Well, did Condon f*cking ask HOW they knew which plays we were going to run?

That's the critical question.

I mentioned how predictable we are be just watching the personnel enter the game..Scott runs through 2-4 holes, Murphy/Wild tiger or sweeps, Trindon, option or end arounds...

I don't know but I can tell you this I sat in the stands in Starkville and correct predicted alot of the offensive calls. A fellow poster on here can back me up on this. he asked how I was doing it. I said its easy to figure out based on formation and personnel.

Its the formations that give it away. We only have about 3 plays max out of each offensive set we run. Add to it the personnel sets that go with each formation and its easy for a defense to know that when LSU is in the pistol and KW is the back, these are the 2-3 plays they run, etc...

The multiple offense actually makes us more predictable.

it doesn't have to be a signaling issue. It could be something as simple as one of the offensive players always moving a certain way before a run play. Poker players have tells. I can't imagine that 18 year old football players wouldn't.

I remember reading an article in 2003 where Lavalais said that Saban had the defensive players actually study the upcoming opposition QB looking for tells. There was 1 game - I think UGA in the SECCG - where Lavalais was fricking with the opposing OL by basically telling them their next play based on those tells. It was rather amusing.

Urban Meyer and his coaching staff probably just pop popcorn, sit back, chuckle and high five each other during film watching sessions leading up to the LSU game.

The thing is the truly dominant teams can tell you what play they are running and you still can't stop it. That's how the Cowboys in the 90s were. They had about 3 running plays and 5 pass plays that they ran over and over and teams still couldn't stop it.

Florida will line up on 3rd and 4 with Tebow and two blocking backs and you know whats coming and he still gets 5 yards.
