re: Defense Problems need to be addressed

Orgeron literally addresses it in his press conference. He literally said exactly what we’ve been saying and these loons can’t grasp. That yesterday’s problems were player mistakes and that we have talent on defense but not great talent (his words verbatim). Now that he has spoken his worshippers can STFU about shite they don’t know.

The guy they all drool over and compare Aranda to is Brett Venables from Clemson
Can we switch schedules with Clemson and see how their defense compares then? I'm not saying Venables isn't a great coach. I'm saying Arandas faced many more challenges (no 5* dline, no high powered offense until this year obviously, no cupcake schedule etc.) and has still weathered the storms time and time again. He's proven he is worth his salary even if there are areas of improvement needed from our defense.
I also don't get this whole 'Aranda isn't worth the salary he makes'. He is worth whatever value O places on him, and O obviously places a lot of value in keeping him so the $ amount shouldn't even be an argument unless it prohibits us from hiring another great coach/coordinator. I haven't heard Arandas salary being a reason we didn't hire or missed on another coach so I just don't see what it matters.

They use the “salary” argument because when this narrative started people starting posting Arandas stats compared to other great DCs and it shut their argument down. So naturally since they couldn’t attack him on production they moved to “well he costs too much.”

Yes we need to fix somethings but it sounds like you want to get rid of Aranda. I don't think that's a stellar idea. Sorry.

Agreed
As much as I want Lawrence and Logan and Fehoko to be elite none of them are near a Wilkins or a Brown.
Shelvin is a boss but his position is not designed to be a pas rushing position.

I agree with you that many of these people are twisted die hard O fans. It's just so weird because O had the opportunity to let him go yet spent every dollar he could to keep him. Wouldn't that make O the fool for paying all that money for a DC that's not worth his pay, in their opinion at least?
Ultimately it doesn't matter what these guys think. O was smart enough to know that Aranda was worth the money and he would need a DC like Aranda not only to compete for the NC but to keep us in games and relevant while O was finding a way to get the offense updated.

You see we put up 46 on the greatest DC ever??

Yea don’t take that comment the wrong way, there’s nothing wrong with being an O fan even previously. But, and it’s not exclusive to O, we have some fans that when they exalt a coach or player they view them as infallible and perfect and this leads them down the path of insane Rant takes. So when the offense was struggling you’ll see a lot of the same guys excusing O, warranted or not, so now that the offense is outperforming the D they feel justified in taking vengeance. I know it seems crazy but I’ve watched this from it’s inception, Bama week of last season, and it’s real.

Definitely some things to fix on third and long and contain situations.
End of the day Les Miles beat Saban in Tuscaloosa by 3, O won by 4. Defense has to tighten up and not let teams back into the game. We were very lucky to let a champ off the ropes like that. Should have pulled away in the 3rd or at least closed out on 3rd and 19.

I thought Aranda had Bama thoroughly baffled, and did a great job in this game. He took away everything Bama liked to do the most, and made them throw low percentage passes. Bama converted quite a few because their receivers are elite, and Tua is in a class by himself as a passer.

Every game we complain about 3rd down conversion. I am guilty of it during the game also. Then when the game is over, I go look at the box score and we performed better on 3rd down than our opponent and the opponent is well under 50%. I would like the opponent’s 3rd down conversion rate to be 20% every week, but maybe that just isn’t realistic.

need better pass rushers
This is the missing link. If we had Auburn’s front 4, this would be the LSU defense of old. We just had a spell where we missed on those recruits. They saw us as on a decline. We should be able to get some better rushers with the next class or two.

Lol. We played one of the best offenses in the nation. With a great quarterback and 4 nfl wide receivers. Several pros on the Alabama offense

the bs Stingley play.
that was a gimmick play. not going to put that on Stingley

You do realize that you take away the punt return for td which was caused by the special teams and the td that stingley wasn’t even looking when ball was snapped away the defense holds them to 27 points.

Overjoyed with the win..but the Tackling is atrocious

Folks, come back down to earth. There were huge holes, long runs, wide open 60+ yard pass plays all over the field. Najee Harris ripped us all night. If our offense had not been so great, this would have been a huge defeat. Wake up????? Look at the games this year and tell me how many times has our defense let the other team back into games? This should scare any sane football fan.
RELAX gramps. LSU has Joe Burrow. The offense will always bail out the defense, if needed. What defense out there can stop them? New England?
Take a deep breath, and think about it. On a neutral field, who are you picking to beat this team?
