Here's Auburn's drives minus a 49 yard and 70 yard TD:

5 plays, 36 yards
3 plays, 4 yards
8 plays, 34 yards
8 plays, 40 yards

They did their job on all but two plays. Auburn capitalized, kudos to them.

But you can't help but believe if they had given a bit more rest, those plays are at least minimized to non TDs.

Defense didn't play well yesterday, but they played well enough for us to win. Loss is 95% (if not more) on the offense IMO.

D kept getting us the ball back at midfield. People keep forgetting that.

i dont see how anyone can be concerned about the defense. we won't face an offense like auburns the rest of the season, nor will be face a cameron newton. arkansas will be tough, but they don't have a qb who can make plays with his feet like newton. bama has a good run game, but vs ole miss and south carolina the 2 backs were shut down. last night mcelroy was getting hit on a regular basis by an average tennessee defense. call me crazy, but ole miss doesn't concern me. i still say we win 10 games.

Yeah, D and ST are the only reason that game remained close.

They had 180 yards 2nd half w/o the huge plays. Not great, but not blow the doors off either.

I agree. This is far and away the most difficult to defend offense we face all year.

Arkansas and Bama are much more traditional. Still good offenses, but they aren't going to have a QB rollout, get his only receiving option triple covered and then break back left for 9 yard run for a first down on 3rd and 7. That's not bad defense... it's just a great play by a great player.

not to menton 7 of auburns points came off a turnover. they gave up yrs (who won't against that offense) but they only allowed 24 points.

Exactly. Everyone on here points to the 440 rushing yards and says we were utterly dominated when the game was much closer than most want to see and admit.

Well stated OBUDan... It's nice to see that there are still some people on the Rant that have resisted the urge to join the lemmings...
