Hairston has the leg to put them through the end zone every time if he wants.
He leaves them short by design a lot of the time because the kick coverage dictates it and they generally keep those guys inside the 20 when he does it.

the whole point of our kickoffs is to get it high and come down around the goal line...our coverage team is one of the best in the country. Hairston could put it out of the back of the endzone everytime if we wanted him too, but why would we let them start on the 25 everytime if jarvis or debo can shite on their returner around the 15?

I don't think it's time to throw him under the bus but, his performance last night could have cost LSU the game. He needs to correct whatever is going on with his kicking.
