D Williams deserved that just for the long run against Bama. He had the longest run for LSU against them in a decade. And they weren't happy about it.

I think the distinction of being a permanent team captain is the coolest honor on the list.

I can’t critique the awards as these are team family awards and they know best. However, I’m a bit taken back by DE only receiving the academic award. I’d think he was was more critical than DW.....and not a permanent team captain?

I'll buy that. D. Williams was........BY FAR.........the biggest surprise of the season for me. I really felt last year that for whatever reason, he wasn't "in" it anymore. But this year he came out and it was like a completely different person. Kudos to him.
Darrel was LSU’s offensive rock this season. He was productive each and every game. He was much more than just a compliment to DG. In many games, he was as good if not better option than DG.
Kudos to him and his work ethic.

He's been blessed with relatively good health this season. I know he was asked to gain weight to play fullback, then lose weight to go back to tailback, and so forth. The best "all around" back of the past few years, Williams is both a competent run blocker (his experience at fullback certainly helped), and maybe the best pass blocking back on the team. He's also the best receiver out of the backfield, IMHO. I wish we could have utilized him more over the past few years, but he is just not as explosive as either LF7 or Guice - that's not Williams' fault - that's just genetics.
But, as hardworking and dedicated a player I think we've had since Hester.

I'm very happy for Darrel Williams.
He has been spectacular playing in LF7's and DG5's shadows.
His contributions will be missed.
Perfectly worded

That's pretty impressive that a guy sitting out got this award. I'm sure it's hard to be super motivated when you know you aren't playing. Bodes well for next year.
