Nice, but why is he stepping on the recruits toes? Seems shady

Dude did well once O stopped meddling.

Maybe he convinces BK that the early season struggles were on Coach Doh.

I have direct accounts from his wife that he loves it here, his favorite place they have been and he's coached at a lot of places. He has been trying his hardest to find a way to stay.

Freeman ain't coming...Daronte is not only as good as what's available but familiar to the team.

Not only did he do well but with multiple starters out. Maybe he can stay on as safeties coach or something if we get Freeman or another DC.

I would be fine keeping Jones.... Once the handcuffs were removed by O, he had half the starters he began the season with, and put a solid defense on the field.

I think that's a bit of a stretch. There are plenty of DCs out there that Kelly can poach that are a ton better than Daronte Jones.

LSU fans are the bane of their own existence. They can't help but wanna hire only coaches that they're familiar with. It's baffling. Daronte by all accounts is a great guy and is seems to be a solid coach. Daronte should not be heading the defense at LSU.

I think it would be okay if Kelly decided to keep Jones on the staff as a position coach:

Let’s keep Daronte. Dude had our defense rolling. He should stay put IMO.

If Freeman isn’t coming to LSU I would prefer they keep Daronte and Baker. Kelly’s DL Coach at ND is better than Carter so I would prefer him at LSU.

No that is not what it means. It means that he is doing the job that he is contracted to do. Just like all of the 10 assistant coaches that are currently under contract to LSU. He may have a new boss, but he still has a job to do until he is either terminated, resigns or is retained.

His contract would have to be renegotiated if he were to stay on staff as a position coach. LSU is not going to pay 1.5 mil for a Safety Coach, that is just an absurd amount of money. Our last Safety Coach made about 1/3 of that amount.

If not retained as DC would Daronte be willing to take a drastic paycut if Kelly wants him on staff?????

He came here because both he and O believed in the same type of defensive scheme.

If O was being honest on his radio show 2 weeks before the Alabama game, he said he told Daronte to "make changes".
Either way I wish him well on his next opportunity. The defense was stacked when he got here. Couldn't make in game changes. At least some of the improvements came from the players themselves playing the most inspired ball since 19'.

That money was probably guaranteed so he is getting paid one way or another.

He’s under contract regardless, so he’s getting paid that either way.
