Strictly talent alone, LSU is 2nd or 3rd.
This. O has done a good job shoring up gaps in depth and talent.
If LSU finishes 5th in the West (which I don’t think will happen), it will be because of a coaching deficiency, not a talent or depth deficiency.

He maybe right about the outcome due to the unknown at qb. But saying we don't have the talent just show that he doesn't know what he is talking about. He is just riding the hype train of other schools while not knowing the rosters ok of any schools

It's a win win for me like that. We win 10 games and make a great bowl I'm happy.
We lose 5 games and go 5th in the west, the ball gets rolling with Allevas termination.
Win win either way

It’s hot right now to pick LSU in the gutter. No one knows until the lights come on.

I think this year's team will be a big surprise.

The lose/lose scenario also exists, somewhere around 8-4.

Agreed, that scenario would suck more than the other 2

I think we'll finish 3rd in the West at 9-3. Before Burrow I had us at 7-5 with a huge possibility of going 6-6.
Anybody who has us lower than 9-3;
1. Expects Burrow to be average at best
- I really do believe that we have our best QB since Russell in Burrow
- accuracy is his game. It's what we've always wanted. You can see him read a defense in spring games and the time he had on the field.
- he can freaking run. He's a tough runner too. I can't wait to see the RPOs for this team.
2. Expects run game to be below average.
- the high school ranking on our stable of backs are the worst in a long arse time, but if you really watch them, high school tape/spring game, you'll realize LSU is still in good hands running the ball.
- it'll be like 2011 when 5 different runners, including Jefferson, had at least 250 rush yards and 3+ TDs. We had plenty talent going into the 2011 season at RB, but we had no definite big primetime back.
- I think Helaire, Curry, and Burrow will have the bulk of the carries (160, 130, 100), and guys like Brossette (50), and Provens (50), will contribute. We have various skillsets in that bunch (complete back, power backs, speed back, QB option).
3. What will the offense look like, will it work?
- I'll give them this one. Ensminger is talking a big game, but then he hasn't called a system of his own in over 20 years.
- If he does utilize more modern things; spreading the field, 3 WR base, more emphasis on the TE in passing game, RPOs, nice variety of passing routes, more misdirection in run game, little under center play, then I can see us blowing up.
Mostly media here
4. Expects the defense to not be as good as last year.
- just about every LSU fan expects a much better defense this year, but it's to be expected from us considering we follow the team. Media only sees the fact that we lost a bunch of starters. While we have, there isn't one starter that we lost on defense, that isn't easily replaceable with what we have right now.
- if we get Fulton back, we'll have no holes on defense. Vincent and the Alexander transfer would back up both and we'll be sitting pretty in every position.
Anyway, despite me disliking Ed because we could have easily done better than him, and he could have easily done better in hiring an OC and QB coach, I think he has a lot of shite going his way at the moment.

With the amount of unknowns with this team and the brutal schedule LSU Has. I say 5th is about right for summertime expectation. New OC, new QB, how long will it take for the team to gel on offensive. It’s not about the individual player it’s how the team gels and how quick they can play together. LSU has good players, how long will it take for the freshmen to figure out they are not the top player on that team and that transition to teammate.

Bull shite.
5th in the west and Alleva should be fired, followed by O. The expectation has been 10 wins every year, and Les failed to meet that for multiple years so he was fired. He never was 5th in the West though. That’s a catastrophic failure at LSU.

We are in mid-July.
There is a August camp ... two or so weeks worth, right?
We don't know who the starting QB will be, at this point.
"How the season plays out?" Sure, media dweebs can flap their gums; nothing else to do in the dog days of summer. Fans can speculate. But that's all it is - speculation.
Teams have injuries. Teams have players who vastly improve. It's a fluid situation.
All that to say, Dari whatever is talking out of his arse at this point. And to say LSU doesn't have talent tells me he has no familiarity w/ LSU's roster. It is quite true that there are players who are inexperienced and will have to step up and live up to their billings. Will that happen? That's why they play the game.

1) Alabama--fair
2) Auburn--will be good
3) Miss State--new coach, but very good DL, so maybe?
4) A&M--good coach, but we've got their number until we don't
5) LSU
6) Arkansas--where they should be
7) Ole Miss--basement dweller for the foreseeable future

Who? Calling BS if he’s saying this team doesn’t have the talent.
Where is it on offense? Where are the 1st, 2nd, 3rd team ALL SEC players this year?
Im optimistic the offense will be better than advertised and several players will break out; hopefully 1 of those plays QB.
But its not far fetched when Vegas has you winning 7 games that you would finish 5th in the west. It is what it is and theres a ton of blame to go around if this happens.
I dont want to believe LSU will lose to Moo St and A&M and Im having a hard time even considering it realistic, that is until I look at the rosters of those 2 teams objectively.
LSU will go this year as the offense goes. If its great they may win it all. If its below avg they may win 6 games.

2) Arnold Miller
3) Abram Booty
4) Rondell Mealey
5) Kendall Cleveland
Done.

Simplistic view imo.
ST - better kickers result in higher PPG
D (specifically turnover ratio) - results in higher PPG
We didn’t have many offensive players on the 2011 All-SEC team either. But TM was good for about 10 PPG it seemed. That team wrecked folks.

3-5 is a toss up on paper. 5 is worst case scenario for LSU. Best case is beating Auburn in JH and then fighting them for #2 because of the tough schedule. LSU struggles at AU, so #3 iin the West is a realistic ceiling and where I’d predict them to finish because I think they are going to be better than expected and beat MSU and Fla. 5-3 record gets them the tie breaker over MSU and aTm finishes 4-4 as they’re still going to be too soft this year.

Good, let everyone keep telling them they don't have a chance. If the offense comes together and gets some confidence it'll be a snowball effect. Underdog LSU vs. everybody. I think Burrow is the key... He's a leader and talented, and hopefully he can take that talent and leadership and produce if given the opportunity to start.
bookmark all the predictions and hate toward LSU and Orgeron... including LSU "fans" who would rather be right about Coach O and their predictions than to see LSU succeed.
It'll be a great video montage of quotes and predictions of everyone doubting them leading into a highlight season of an SEC Championship or at least a very successful season. I believe.

team should be in atlanta. burrow puts us over the top. anything less will be a disappointment.

That's pretty bold coming from the 5th best analyst on their 3 man crew.
