14/27----52%----0.75td---0.375int----166yds

That is his averages in the 8 games he started against teams who finished the year ranked top 25

What do we think our qb needs to average against the better teams to take us to the level to compete in the west?

I am guessing

18/27----1.5tds----0.5 ints-----200yds

Look into the times hit/sacked/hurried numbers and let’s get better there.

65%, 3 to 1 TD/INT ratio, 215 yards.

We are very close to each other.

ETA:

UGA and Bama victories will absolutely require success throwing the ball, as we've learned the last 7 years unfortunately. We'll need a couple passing TDs and 200 yards, with limited turnovers, in both of those games.

Maybe 2 to 1 TD/INT ratio actually, would be more realistic against those top 4 teams, all whom have strong secondaries. But completing the high % passes will be key against those teams.

We were top 10 in the country last year in QB hurries

Tough to improve too much

ETA: That was 2016

You are looking for a decrease in .075 interceptions per game? Over 8 games?

I think he only threw 1 int in those games too.

Do coaches poll next, we need it.

He threw 3 total

1 vs Bama 2016

1 vs bama 2017

1 vs louisville

I meant for my average ints to be 0.5

I want a 3/1 ratio

And get the ball out on time and don't balways roll out right when you can step up in the pocket.

Hodson passed for a zillion yards and TD's his Senior Year and was First Team All SEC and LSU finished 4-7. None of that crap matters!

Are you saying your qb throwing for more yards and touchdowns won’t help your team win more?

I would imagine that all qb numbers against top 25 teams are lower than their season average. For instance in the NC game between GA and Bama, GA was 16-32(50%) for 232 and Bama was 17-32(52%) for 187.

Of course they are lower

I am saying I do not beleive Etlings averages were enough to get it done

This is a really weird thread and your premise isn’t exactly clear.

However, I don’t think etlings stats are relevant. We will need to throw the ball more for a variety of reasons including scheme, personnel and the fact our coach is on the hot seat.

How is this thread weird and how is my point not clear?

We all think we need more out of the qb against good teams to get where we wanted

I posted the averages of our past qb against ranked teams, and then posted what I think it will take for us to reach our goals of winning the West

Seems pretty straightforward

Not surprising since Orgeron's win list as coach of LSU looks like this.

Missouri 4-8
Southern Miss 7-6
Ole Miss 5-7
Arkansas 7-6
Texas A&M 8-5
Louisville 9-4
BYU 4-9
Chattanooga FCS
Syracuse 4-8
Florida 4-7
Auburn 10-4
Ole Miss 6-6
Arkansas 4-8
Tennessee 4-8
Texas A&M 7-6

If our qbs are anything like etling, we are fricked for one more season, yet again. We cannot have average qb play

What's going to help against teams like Bama and UGA is that our coaching staff doesn't just pull everything in and play conservative scared football. Run the whole play book. Make these teams defend the whole field not just yards between the tackles. If they would just do that.
