Daniels needs to improve recognition but Denbrock passing offense sucks so far

The Denbrock comparisons to Cam Cameron definitely seem valid. Rewatched some of the game yesterday. Pass protection was definitely much improved but the route trees looked vanilla and unimaginative. Seems ridiculous we don't do more to try to get easy passes and get Daniels in a rhythm.

It’s really uninspiring route design.

Yeah all the wide open receivers downfield are pretty disheartening.

McElroy was pointing out wide open receivers all night long. JD isn’t seeing them. Play calling hasn’t been the issue; the WRs are getting open. QB execution has to improve, which would also help to improve the running game.

I agree, but apparently that's what Daniels is most comfortable with, so expect more of the same. The coaches have to scheme to Daniels' strengths, and those very basic routes are the ones where he's most likely to complete passes.

They need more short and intermediate routes to open space. Daniels is what he is and won’t make a ton of downfield throws.

I think there’s a little blame on Denbrock but he really has put WRs in open position. JD just doesn’t want to let go of the football and hit them.

In my opinion it’s time to roll the pocket, set up pop passes, 1-2 reads. Simplify the offense for JD.

Denbrock was a very underwhelming hire. Was pretty disappointed when they announced he would be the OC. His offense isn't what wins big in SEC football in 2022.

Daniels simply cannot throw a WR open. Even on his TD run he had Boutte running open and Daniels could have thrown the ball to the pylon. Boutte had a defender a step behind on his back hip so he wouldn’t throw it.

He’s got to start trusting his guys to make a catch. We can’t afford him holding the ball unless he sees a guy all alone and then throw it. That won’t work.

You've got to learn to throw guys "open" and spot throws.

JD isn't great at this. Burrow was amazing at this.

I'll take somewhere in the middle because we've got guys open a LOT

Daniels is not a pocket passer. If we are going to have him out there, we need to attack with his strengths early and get his confidence up and then try to hit routes down the field. So far we have tried to do it backwards of that

We did have open WRs that Daniels didn't see, but I was concerned that Denbrock could not see that we needed to complete passes near the line of scrimmage and throw to RBs to get the ball out of Daniels' hands quickly and get some easy completions in the hands of our playmakers/build some confidence (especially after seeing how things went against FSU with tempo and shorter passing plays/routes).

Once we did that, the entire game changed. It's like were wasted two quarters not doing some obvious things that could work (and clearly did work once we did them).

There were receivers wide open on virtually every play. Uninspiring routes? Bad calls? Said it last night, NFL caliber receivers, Sun Belt caliber QB. I wasn’t a fan of the Denbrock hire, but it wasn’t the calls that caused so many bad passes or tuck and run plays.

When Brady was here in the spring of 2019 I remember him screaming at the QB to "cut it loose". It may have been Brennan. Sloan and Denbrock need to be saying the same thing to JD.

90% of his throws were to these type of routes, are you saying every WR needs to run these routes? lol
