am shocked that he doesn't get criticized more on the Rant

He was getting hated on pretty bad in the game thread last night.

The first half he played pretty poorly, but he was in on quite a few plays in the 2nd half and was a bit more disruptive. The whole team was the same, so I wouldn't write him off yet.

Meh. We say he needs to step up until we play a team that has a vertical passing game. That is when he will be brutally effective, as he's got the highest pass rushing ceiling from all our defensive lineman.

If I thought he had no chance of being a star player, I would not even bother to post about him, let alone start a thread. The players on the team starting I have little to no faith in, I rarely ever post about.

Hunter got by their LT about 5 times last night

bro just because the DE runs up field past the LT and takes himself out of the play does not mean that is a success. on the first drive of the game for Wisc. he was getting abused getting run right at

Its not just Hunter. Our DL are unable to keep the OL off the LBs. We also cannot generate any pressure at all with the 4 DL. We have to bring a blitz to get any pressure at all.

he made some really good plays in the second half

the play where he was the read key on a speed option and still made the tackle. like most of the defense he didnt show up until the second half, nothing to fret about

im not sure what bringing more critisism accomplishes. coaches dont make decisions based on the fans thoughts on players

watching danielle hunter right now, seems that they had him playing it safe and not really rushing too much. more of a coverage scheme.

Its hard to criticize without knowing his assignment each play. Its also built in that DE's will look bad if the right call is made against what ever they are doing. U speed rush and they run right in the hole u just left...the right call with the right man at the right time and you look like an all-american.... get it wrong and you look bad..

Watching the replay now. On wiskys last scoring drive, he missed a sack. Was there to get him and one arm whiffed. Gotta make those plays. Could've held em to a FG. But, as already expressed, the entire D line was underwhelming.

What is Hunter ... 240 lbs? Everyone last night was saying LSU's OL should have been dominating Wisconsin's DL due to the size differential. Exact same thing with Hunter to be honest ... a 320 lb OT should be able to manhandle a 240 lb DE. In fact, Wisconsin made no secret about wanting to run right at Hunter, but guess what? He held his own more often then not.

100% correct. He got manhandled and was way out of position the first two drives although the DT on his side was on freaking skis they were pushing him so far back. He played 19x times better the second half but he needs to correct this. He did not contain the edge and that is his job

Agreed. Once we knew that they couldn't complete a pass...the LBers started pressing the gaps and they couldn't move the ball.

Also...I'm not positive but it looked like our back-up MLB was able to control the inside better. I'm wondering if we have a new starter??

He beat his man and got into the backfield 4-5 times last night. They never ran the ball to his side and when they did, it was a minimal gain. I really don't know why you frick shits are saying we didn't get pressure last night. It's like most of you don't watch the game and just look at the box score.
Man what game was I watching last night

In the first quarter, 2 consecutive runs, one for 20 yds around the left end, then the fly sweep around the left end for 45 yds. Both Hunter lost contain.

The most glaring fault about Hunter is that he is not a sure, sound tackler...he whiffed on several runs and that cannot happen from a starter...

I have a great idea for you Laman. You go Tuesday and find Hunter on campus between classes. Tap him on the shoulder and tell him he sucks arse. Report back and tell us how it worked out for you.
