Dallas people: What's the game day atmosphere like at Dodie's reef?

Looking to get out and be social tomorrow for the game instead of watching at home like I usually do. Last time I went to Dodie's was for the McNeese game that was canceled and was too drunk to remember much. Will there be tons of willing OT 7+'s cheering on the tigers? Or are there better options to catch the game?

Dodies sucks. Idk why LSU alumni is married to that place. The food is half arse as well.

Georgia has Capitol Pub
Arkansas has KSP
Alabama has City Council
Ole miss has BBC
Auburn has Chelsea’s corner (now that Henderson taphouse is closing)
Miss St has concrete cowboy

I just personally feel it’s time for a new change of venue like an actual bar that people can all stand and sit be open. Dodies being a restaurant first henders that.

Most of the LSU almumni I know ( age 24-28) just watch games at house parties.

Dallas alumni should get Katy Trail Icehouse. That place rules.

Yeah I read in another thread it wasn't spectacular, but just got that one opinion. The alumni page also lists II Brother's in Plano but I really don't feel like going all the way up there.

It was electric last saturday. But with that said, my group (25-28 y.o) hate dodies. Starting next week we are getting the big back room with the projector at Renfields. The GM said something about drink specials as well.

edit: we had Eastwoods filled with LSU fans all last year but the new owner is a raging douchebag.

I personally love Dodies but that has a lot to do with knowing all the people that work there. I go there to watch about half the games with my LSU friends & we have a reserved table so that makes all the difference in the world. I refuse to eat their Louisiana style food. It isn't good but I love that they have Abita Amber on tap. Just eat before you go. Not sure where I am watching it tomorrow night if you know what I mean as I will be rooting for my Dogs. …....

Dodie and his brother years ago branded themselves as a Louisiana type place. I don't know how it is now, but Dodie's Reef used to be a fun place to go because of Dodie and Casey ......and the rest of the family that would periodically show up . They are good people

I don’t get why everyone loves this place here.

It is probably my least favorite bar in Uptown.

Always packed, a thousand dogs around, just gets old I guess after you’ve been 290 times.

FWIW I watched the game last weekend at Deep Ellum brewery and I’d say 80% of the people there were Tiger fans and the whole place went apeshit for the winning FG.

Don’t know it would have the same atmosphere against Tech, though.

Befriend someone with a bad arse outdoor patio bar at their house. It beats all the lukewarm places in DFW to watch a game.

Place went bananas last week at the end of the game. It was a fun environment.
But agreed that the food sucks if you’re accustomed to authentic Cajun

Dodie's atmosphere is okay. The food isn't good (owner is an Austin guy). Charlies Creole Kitchen down the street is the original Dodies and the food is much better.

Dodie's will always be the place I watched Troy beat LSU so I don't go back.

They aren't involved with Dodie's Reef anymore. They had a falling out with the investment group that financed them and now that investment group runs things. The family also lost the rights to the name Dodie and had to change the name of the original Dodie's to Charlie's Cajun Cafe. Charlie is the Dad and started Dodies back in the late 80's maybe. And Dodie was the grandmother so not sure why one of the grandkids was calling himself that.

A dog took a shite right next to me at the Katy Trail Icehouse and the owner wouldn’t pick it up, completely ruined the meal.

Only if she's hot.

But anyway, we'll be at Renfields next week for Ole Miss.
