There was a rumor Charlie bought Dodie's Reef last year but I haven't been able to confirm that. Next time I see him at Charlie's I may ask him.

Several of us had lunch there a few weeks ago and Charlie sat with us. Said he now owns both locations.

I was in Dallas the weekend of the Texas game. Went to Dibs and had fun. Parking in that area blows though so take an uber.

Normally dodies, but a friend of mine called to make a reservation, and they were requiring a $600 deposit to reserve a table. Could be an exaggeration, but I know they get stupid packed for big games. For the NFC championship last year, there were tables reserved everywhere and people standing along the walls. It's supposed to rain too so I doubt the rooftop will be open.

Dibs is the official alumni spot. I heard it was a good time, but I didn't go this season. I prefer cooking and having people over at the house for LSU games.

I'm flying in from DC around noon. Probably kicking off around 2.

Dodies sucks for big games. Go to Dibs. It’s the new LSU Alumni bar and in a great spot downtown.

I was in Dallas for the SEC championship game and went to Dibs. It’s definitely a pro LSU environment and they have the sound on all the TVs. It was solid.

My only complaints were downstairs had a weird layout...too much open space. It felt like a restaurant. Upstairs is more of a bar feel. And they didn’t have any beer on tap which i found weird considering their proximity to the American Airlines center.

Overall it was a good time though. I’d go there before hitting up Dodies.

I'll probably just end up watching it on the couch. The lady is out of town and I don't know any LSU fans around here and not a big fan of watching with a ton of people I don't know at a bar.

Was going to try to go to the game, but didn't think about how much I'd spend on flights and tickets

Someone mentioned Walk-Ons on Beltline... I do not know of one. They opened one in Irving.

It is on the I-635 south service road in Irving between Beltline Road and MacArthur Drive.

If you want to keep your hearing by age 40 don't go to fricking Dodie's. Im in my mid 20s and went there for the Florida game and it was excruciatingly loud. It was unbelievable. The entire group I was with wanted to leave. The music during commercials made your ears bleed. Instead of leaving I snuck over to the sound station and turned it down myself

The original Dodie's is now called Charlie's. Charlie is the founder of Dodie's but lost the rights to the name when his dumbass son, who opened Dodie's Reef a mile north, ran that into the ground and went bankrupt. The new owners of Dodie's Reef, who are just investors with no ties to Louisiana, sued Charlie for the name, which was the nickname of his grandma. They did offer to sell it back to Charlie but he told them to Frick off.

The above is NOT my understanding of the situation or background I got from Charlie, Chris (Charlie's son), or several of the worker's at Charlie's.

One example, this is what Chris told me:

quote:

Kroemer says, the restaurant’s owner, Charlie McGuiness, named it “Dodie’s” after the nickname for his son, Chris McGuiness.

2017 news article about changes at Dodie's

Your post is incorrect about that and several other items. Chris is LSU through and through and doesn't deserve to be called a "dumbass" by someone who obviously does not know him or the facts.

Thanks yes, that's the Irving location.
When most say Beltline, they mean Addison/Dallas...just could not picture it.

Would love to see the Alumni add it as a look in in the future....or better yet have Walk-Ons open in Addison.

It is a centrally located location ...between the extreme south DIBS and the extreme north II Brothers. The food is pretty good, specially the entrees. It also has a cigar/whiskey lounge.

On Monday that will likely be the only event, thus all TVs will be on it.
Restaurants, Sports Bars and TT Bars as well.

On that DATE....every place with a TV will have the game on.

Dibs problem is THE AREA PARKING, specially on Saturday nights and II Brothers is in Frisco....
it is a 45 between the 2 locations...maybe more.

II Brothers is nice, but I have a 40 minute drive afterwards.. during the season, I will usually do Twin Peaks (Addison), my home or go and have dinner and watch it at Razoos. One of the most fun place is probably Nate's, although not an official look in place.
Not big enough.

Fox and Hound on Midway was solid.

Why don't we do a Tiger Rant DFW watch party somewhere? Somewhere centrally located That would be fun.
