You and I are both entitled to our opinions no matter how stupid and outlandish they are.

I agree. :)

Please tell me you didn't graduate from UNC.
And I have had this arguement with many UNC fans who believe that Roy Boy can do no wrong. The situation with LE was dirty, and Williams was involved.
Wasn't there a story circulating at one time about LE showing up behind the UNC bench during a game while he was still on an LSU scholarship?

One thing's for sure. When Dale Brown was at LSU we weren't just a football school.
There wasn't a "Deaf Dome" before Dale Brown, and there really hasn't been once since.
I was there for the UNLV games and Loyola Marymount shootout. Back then, the PMAC was louder than Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night. People camped out for days sometimes to get in for games.
Since Dale Brown...well...it's been a sometimes pleasant distraction from the time between football and baseball.
All of this debate over whether he was effective or not really doesn't matter to me. My experience was that Dale Brown brought some of the best memories to LSU basketball and to LSU Athletics as a whole.

You're referring to the Dale Brown who, when stopped for driving 80 mph, cursed the State Trooper for interferring with his travel plans???
You mean the same Coach who talked about masterb##**! on TV??
The same Aclown who IS against capitol punishment??
Great Guy????

Actually it's more of a baseball school.
Look at the titles.
Alex Box never has and never will hold 92,000+ folks in it.

He is piling on how horrible it was for the bball program and said if one blade of grass was bent the wrong way in Tiger Stadium, 15 workers would be working on it in about 10 minutes after the call.
Quite the contrary, Dale apparently hasn't been to any games in Tiger Stadium in quite awhile. Not exactly the best turf in the S.E.C., as we've all discussed on here ad nauseum. I'd settle for just ONE guy that knew what the hell he was really doing. 15 would be awesome.......

I do admire his accomplishments but I also remember why he is gone when you hear stuff like this.
Accomplishments? For the time and the talent he had, there should have been at least one championship. I label him very much an underachiever. And, he was a coach in a period when LSU didnt demand the best from its coaches (and didnt want to pay the elite coaches salaries). He was a great recruiter but poor basketball coach.
And, if you recall, this same bitching by Brown resulted in more than one fight between football and basketball team players during Brown's tenure. If I recall, a couple were during the Dinardo era(?).
Thats right Scott Ledford! I am talkin to you! :)

Hey Dale, you want some cheese with that wine? Dale Brown is a whiner. Always has and always will.

Skip feels the same way about LSU. According to Bertman, the two most popular sports at LSU is Football and spring Football.
This is a typical clueless ranter thread telling us how stupid Dale Brown is for telling us his true perspective on LSU sports.

He was describing how LSU was when he got there. If you are gonna quote at least give the context.

quote:
Accomplishments?
1) Winningest coach in LSU men's basketball history
2) Led the Tigers to Final Four appearances in 1981 and 1986
3) In 25 years prior to Brown, LSU won 288 games and 2 NCAA Tourneys. During his 25 years, LSU won 448 games, and 13 NCAA Tourneys
4) Despite taking LSU who had only 4 winning seasons in 18 yrs, Brown had a wining record in his 1st yr
5) In his first home game, the Tigers beat #11 Memphis St by double digits
6) An OT win over eventual N.C. Ky, even with all LSU starters fouling out
7) Lowest seeded team to reach the Final Four
8) Only SEC coach to have ever appeared in 15 straight national tournaments
9) Top 12 in NCAA coaches with consecutive NCAA appearances (10)
10) 2nd in SEC wins
11) Tops of SEC coaches with consecutive non-losing seasons (17)
12) Top 4 in SEC coaches in all-time conference championships
13) 9 time SEC Coach of the Yr/Runner-Up
14) 2 time National Coach of the Year
15) 105 of 160 of his players received their college degrees
16) Winningest coach ever vs Ky
17) Holds the record for the 2nd,3rd, and 4th largest attendance in college basketball history
And to think he wasnt able to do more the one year he had Chris and Shaq together. I see your point. The list shouts "underachiever."

And if not for poor luck in running into many eventual National Champs and/or hot Final Four team brackets, Dale Brown and LSU would've been in quite a few more Final Fours, which would've furthered DB's accomplishments.
LSU often was easily one of the best teams in the country, in years that they had the misfortune to land in Magic Johnson, Darrell Griffith, Indiana '87, Georgia Tech '91,etc..path..in Bracket Finals & Semis.
Otherwise, we're talking Five or Six Final Fours.

dale had a great run at lsu back in the day.he was perhaps one of the best recruiters in country at the time and one of the best motivators in the game but he was unfortunatly not a good coach and its unfortunate that when he left lsu he put us on probation. but i still like old dale and he deserves respect for his years of service at lsu.
