Where are you seeing Hunt’s projections? He has not made the prediction that LSU will be a 9 seed but everyone in this thread is looking to be pissed off.
quote:
Hunt has not made a prediction on wheat seed he thinks LSU will be. The OP made that up.
quote:
He posted that to show how one could argue that each of those teams could be seeded ahead of LSU. He did not project that. He is on record saying that he thinks LSU will be a top 8 seed. The OP completely made up that he is projecting LSU as a 9 seed.

It’s because he is saying how each team could make their argument to be ahead of LSU. He is not saying that he would have those 8 teams above LSU. Everyone in this thread is too dense to see that and just believe it because you said it in your OP.
Chill out, Hunt.

Over the past ten years, 9 teams have finished with 19 SEC wins and 8 have gotten a top 8 seed. The only team to be outside the top 8 with 19 conference wins was Kentucky in 2017.
Chat GPT says they had a 33 rpi that season. Is that correct?

His tweet was an example of how LSU could fall to 9. Not that they would fall to 9. He said he's 90% sure we're a top 8 seed. I think it's a lock, but a ton of people are missing the point of his tweet entirely.

Yep it’s pretty obvious what he’s doing. All of a sudden certain things matter

Come on RB10. I know you’re dumb but you’re on this website enough to know that Hunt has an account on here. I’m sure he’ll eventually post in here to explain the exact same thing that I just did.

If D1 has LSU as a 7 seed because of RPI, why do they have LSU ranked #1 in the country?

Just wanted to clear that up.

Shhh. People don’t want to hear the truth. They just want to be pissed off about something that they read with no context.

He's a 20 wins guy, as that was the standard for the last 20 years. It's not anymore.

On his show this week, did he not say winning 2/3 against USC would seal the deal? Then when it happens he says oh not a done deal yet.

Because projection national seeds going into the tournament is different than ranking teams based on their current resumes. D1 Baseball doesn’t choose the seeding.

Asking bc I don’t know, but does the idea of 13,000 fans at Alex box hold any weight when talking about the top 8? That’s double the revenue as most of these top 8 contenders

Not real smooth outing your alter, Hunt.

Then why wouldn’t they value RPI more in their rankings if they clearly value it more for projecting national seeds?

I, the OP, did make up that Hunt has LSU as the 9 seed. Hunt didn’t do projections, just argued why those 8 teams deserve to be a national seed over LSU.
He's saying that he doesn't believe it's locked up (he said 90% locked up) and here are the reasons why the committee could put LSU behind teams.
I just want to make it clear that (I don't believe) Hunt is not saying that LSU shouldn't be top 8. He's just playing a little devils advocate.
Regardless, RPI needs to be reworked. Auburn has 17 wins in conference, Oregon State's RPI makes zero sense. It's a broken system.
LSU vs. Oregon State, for example, breaks down like this:
Better record: Oregon State because they have a tie
SOS: LSU (33 vs 40)
NC Record: LSU (23-2 vs 41-12-1)
NC SOS: Oregon State because they don't have a conference (3 vs 29)
Better win % vs Q1: LSU (13-10 vs 10-9)
Better win % vs Q2: LSU (7-1 vs 10-2-1)
Better win % vs Q3: Oregon State (7-1 vs 3-1)
Better win % vs Q4: Oregon State (14-0 vs 19-1)
Don't really see what puts OSU above LSU in the RPI if you take those numbers into account.
To add to it, their Q1 wins are against UCLA, UC Irvine, Xavier, Cal Poly, and Hawaii.
LSU's Q1 wins are against Texas, Arkansas, Alabama, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Dallas Baptist, Kansas State, and A&M. LSU has 4 series wins against RPI top 27 teams. Oregon State has 1.

Again, they do not determine the seeding. They do not value RPI as much as the committee does. So their rankings are going to be different from their predictions of what the committee will do.

I understand they don’t determine the seeding.
You are missing the point. If you are a media outlet and you rank a team #1 and then do a projection show for seeding and basing it primarily off of RPI, they should rethink how they do their rankings.
It’s a very inconsistent thought process. They might as well say we didn’t know who to rank #1 so we just put LSU there.
