I would give him credit for Torina to but that was a pleasant accident after he failed with the bama coach. But a good failure at that.

I don't think it's a failure on him that the Bama coach got cold feet and is a little bitch

Fan support needs to be better for sure, but I'd think he's smart enough to know it was gonna take more than a season to get fans back on board

This, the culture of hoops has been fractured to the core and baseball quickly filled that void to a degree you see at very few schools in the country.

It will take time and it's not as easy in this day and age to flip that culture in hoops. the dynamic for today's college hoops is so different than it was back in the 80's and early 90's.

WW's energy and enthusiasm will help and winning will help but we'll have to win at a high level and IMHO higher than Dale to get it back where it was then at it's height.

Alleva promised Wade several things when hired. Wade has made a few remarks that they are a little slow in getting those things done.

Yeah probably, but even if we hit somewhere between where it is now and where it was under Dale it'll be much improved

I was wondering why Sampson got splinters in his arse

we need him. He is a plus defender, scorer and very solid rebounder, etc when he is on his game.

When he want to be IMHO, which is not all the time.

He certainly has the length and athleticism to be.

I know you can't believe everything you read (especially on thus site) but I read where CWW was al little frustrated with Alleva not being cooperative with facility improvements.

I think he was a little frustrated with the speed of things being done (as someone pointed out)... But what coach is ever happy with the speed of how an administration works?

Here's a LINK to some of those CWW post-game comments (for those who missed it).

It's about 7 minutes long. The quote is in there, too.

It is what it is. If wade gets us to the point that a big school or nba comes calling so be it. We would be way better off at that point then we are right now. Also LSU is as big a sleeping giant as we were when saban came along in my opinion. Even the fanbase......La loves a winner. We start going to final 4’s and elite 8’s again and it will go right back to being a wild atmosphere and huge home advantage. It might turn into something where it would need to be bigger then a college offer for wade to leave what he has built.

From all accounts, it was an assistant AD that was primarily responsible for bringing in Will Wade.

If the assistant had brought in a loser would you have given a pass to JA? Hell no. If it was done by his subordinate we credit (or blame) the AD.

the issue is the swings and misses and those hired were not his finds including Torino.
BUT as you say, he pays the bills and has the final say from ththere ADs Office. Thus it is his win.

They need to stop selling out the arena and losing by 20. Fans will show up when that shite stops happening

While probably true, Joe Alleva doesn't get the benefit of the doubt. His first hire, Trent Johnson, flamed out after one great year. The Johnny Jones hire was a complete waste of time. To most AD's it would have been a GIANT red flag that no other major conf. programs even would consider Jones a candidate, let alone hire him. But not Joe. You know how I know? Because he subsequently made the EXACT SAME HIRE for the football program...WHILE the Jones era was predictably flaming out.

So far Wade looks like a complete anomaly in the Joe Alleva hiring past. What's more likely the case? His assistant AD locked in on the coach and did everything in his power to convince Alleva to hire him? Or Alleva finally became a competent AD 4 months after making yet another illogical hire in Ogeron?
