I have to admit, today it really hit me as to how much I miss Skip. No matter the score, you were never out of the game. And he had a way of making the guys believe they could win every game. I'm not sure we believe we can win the CWS.

You are a miserable frick. It's pathetic the hoops your jumping through to diminish being one of the last 8 teams in the nation. Go frick yourself. Literally.
ETA: thanks rag and rickety for the down votes.

the stuff above was decent, but this is just horrible.
No, it's not .. it is all about selling about 8,500 to 9,500 season tickets to set that season's financial budget on .. it is plain and simple economics ..
I'm not even going to argue the rest of your weak refuting of the previous comments ..

"We won the SEC only because we didnt play Vandy or Florida"
The biggest overlooked point by the positigers. A very fortunate fluke in scheduling.

now that I think about it little bit, it's impressive what CPM has done with what he has been given the past 3 seasons. Last year, no-one thought we would be a top 8 seed we didn't have the hitting, the pitching behind Nola to have that shot. This year, we knew we would have a great offense, but we knew our pitching would be shakey, the fact that we are a 2 seed is very impressive.

If Vandy and Florida played Texas A&M you would have a point, but the top 4 SEC teams actually had a very similar SEC schedule in terms of who we played and their skill.
Vandy and Florida didn't play LSU or Texas A&M in the regular season. So the top 4 teams didn't play each other, there was no big difference between our schedule and the other top 4 teams.

Keep building those excuses in your head that are complete hypocrisies relative to your earlier points about how amazingly successful this program is year in and year out ..

Well, back up a second. He recruited this team. He gave it to himself.

It looks like the board may have to soon shift into the off-season football mode.

I'm mainly arguing against the idiots who think Paul's seat should be warm. LSU has been very good over the past 5 seasons. Obviously we could have been better, but to think we have sucked over the past 3 years because we are 0-3 in Omaha is beyond stupid.
2013 was the best regular season record we have ever had.
2014 was an understallented team who still got a top 8 seed. We didn't have top 8 talent last year.
2015 was a year where we were the #1 team for the majority of the season.
Sure the post season hasn't been friendly to us, but to only judge a team on the post season is stupid. Paul is moving this team in a good direction, hopefully he can turn it around in the post season.

I should have said, with what he had.
I've made the point a bunch of times, but recently CPM is making the most out of the talent he has.

Didn't we fire Smoke for something similar?

After today, I realize Maineri had an amazing, once in his lifetime talented team in 2009 .. that team was loaded with big league talent that is, to this day, still in the MLB or AAA ... Since then, his recruiting has kicked in .. he doesn't have a lot of one season wonder JUCOs to fall back on .. etc. .. College baseball has caught up with LSU and is passing us by .. We are just focused on our regular season record and SEC titles .. the CWS is no longer THE prize to us as either a fan base or a program ..

I would much rather see PM change things up a little bit and have more success in the postseason than see a change. I will be the FIRST to admit that we won in 09 based in large part on his decisions. His lineup shakeup midway through the season had a huge impact, and he made so many vital calls to bunt and steal in the title series, and managed the pitchers really well.
Almost like the difference between Les Miles 05-08 and the guy we have today, the difference between the Paul Manieri we see today and the one from that title run seem worlds apart. His pitching management in big games, even wins, has more fans than just myself scratching their heads. Today was just one more in a long line.

Just ignore Alex Lange, Aaron Nola, Alex Bregman, etc.
note: these three players alone, none of whom on the 2009 team, could be considered 3 of the best players to play at LSU. Very few players can match up to what Nola did and bregma. I think Lange will have success similar to Nola. We have more guy coming in with talent similar to Lange.

I hope that he will turn around his recent postseason run.
However, I take exception to the comment that the postseason hasn't been friendly. It won't EVER be friendly. It shouldn't be. You are playing the best of the best every night. That's is why making not just good, but great decisions every time out is so important. You have to make your own luck and overcome the talent of everyone else. We could honestly take that postseason hasn't been friendly stance every year. Great teams with great coaches win in spite of that.
