I, like many, was not a fan of the hire. We all made the jokes and comments and those things were not wrong at the time.

But, this guy deserves everyone's respect from here on in my opinion.

He had a vision, and while it seemed he didnt for the previous 2 years, he has this university playing a brand of football that will have every fan in their seats from kickoff to final whistle.

If the recruiting continues up and the offense can keep hold of the assistants this can grow into something special.

Saturday night had an electricity in the air that hasnt been there in many years and I hope this thing keeps gaining momentum

I was a fan of the hire.

Glad he got his hand out the cookie bowl and lets his coaches coach. He needs to fire up the team, recruit and handle the media/public.

Couldnt be happier to see that he has learned from his mistakes at previous schools and has been able to live out the dream that so many passionate LSU fans have.

Know how I know you haven't been to a game this year

He's doing a great job though. Will reserve final judgement for when we finish this ride off.

Happily ready to admit that I was wrong when I thought he'd be a poor head coach.

Still ready to see LSU win a title again though.

We overachieved by any metric last year.

It has been a steady progression upwards since he took over. This was not an overnight rebuild.

I was excited for anyone other than Leslie

I liked the hire, didnt love it.. thought it would be too much for Coach O to handle, but he has proved everyone wrong

ETA: I did not bitch one time about a coaching decision made on Saturday night... I had multiple bitches every series with CLM

Based on?

We know you dont think hardware makes you even a decent coach. What specifically makes O one of the best coaches in cfb?

Can't say I really agree with that. Just because the national expectations were low based on O (and don't kid yourself, he is the main reason they were low), that doesn't mean winning 9 games was overachieving. We lost two games we shouldn't have lost last year. We did somewhat even that out with the big UGA win, but at best we were right around meets expectations. Miami was garbage, and Auburn was nothing special and overrated as well.

That UGA win was damn strong though.

Correct. It wasnt a rebuild at all. His 1st year he had a nfl drafted qb, 2 nfl rbs, nfl olineman, nfl wrs, and NFL te and a defense littered with future NFL players.

He has learned from the past. He built on his strengths; recruiting, motivation, people skills, and knowledge of the game. He then hired coaches that know how to call dominant offensive and defensive schemes. Lastly, he has utilized the right people by his side for game preparation, special teams and clock management. I am very impressed by his commitment.

Exactly. The national media just saw lsu have the easiest schedule this century and we lost 4 games. They then see top 10 miami and top 10 auburn as early season lossed.

He did the one thing we wanted Miles to do: hire a modern offensive guru and let him go to work. So I certainly give him credit for that. I also think there's a lot of truth to that video about how he fooled CFB. He comes off like an ignorant coonass but it's just an act. He doesn't mind being underestimated by his opponents.

Besides a passing game coordinator, who did he hire?
