it’s sucks to lose guys but go look at the colleges of the guys in the majors. Player develop is as much blind luck as anything.
Maybe we would be talking about LSU legend Justin Verlander if the portal existed 20 years ago.

Why is that bad and how is it different than high schoolers leveraging the draft?
Because they are choosing to skip the amateur baseball ranks (college) and jump straight into the pros (minors). They can do that all day long. I support it. However, big schools, with huge NIL budgets, can get athletes to their school, and it’s pretty much “who can buy the best players in the country.” I didn’t agree a lot with Saban, but I agreed with him on the NIL. I mean, you have high school athletes making a decision to go play for a college based on NIL offers, and yes it happens, versus the coach, talent development, where they fit in, and opportunities to help them grow into a professional athlete at that school. However, now, it’s an “immediate” satisfaction league, where if you take that NIL and go there, then lay an egg, you pop smoke somewhere else. Or worse, have a break out year, and have a larger school come calling the next year and pull the athlete away. It just doesn’t belong in college. Pay them a standardized, same across the board deal, and problem solved. Everyone’s on the same playing field. Make money when you make it. College sports are sacred and it’s changed for the negative

You said a lot there to say nothing of substance

Every player you mention left for more playing time.

You are asking why fans are disappointed when a player leaves that we were hoping would be better next season? Think about what you are saying.

There is no more loyalty in this college game.
There is no less loyalty than there ever was. Players simply have an easier way to express their lack of loyalty.
Most players didn’t grow up as huge fans of the team they commit to.

Did you mean "aw, man" mentality?.

I think it's as much the playing time as money. And I don't think it's always "just" the player's idea.

Let em leave. Who cares. We are in this to win championships,
One of the reasons for my fandom of any sports team is the excitement and expectations as we watch the younger guys or the new guys come in and perform at some point in their tenure. We all pick our favorites and having them see the field at some point and do well is great, it is how and why we have favorite players.
Like Whit Weeks in football, he showed flashes last year, so I am excited to see him this year and next. Or Nuss, we have seen him for a while, it is going to be great to see his talent realized hopefully. I dont feel the same way about the transfer in.
