This makes absolutely no sense bc the combo of Hale, Moore, Scivicque is a MUCH better offensive option than Hale, Moore, KRob and there isnt much of a defensive dropoff if any.

The best college pitcher in American has a catcher he prefers and feel most comfortable with and a bunch of ya-hoos who haven't played played organized baseball since tee-ball know better?

Just speculation but I'm guessing Nola would be just as dominant with any of our three catchers behind the plate. If he wants Moore then so be it. Bob Gibson always wanted Tim McCarver when he pitched.

Nola always wanted/wants moore catching him. Im ok with robertson playing in that situation. Nola gets what nola wants.

Fans like us may have their opinions, but at the end the coaches decide what is best based on their expert evaluations. When it's working why change...

Gray Tiger

They wasn't arguing about CPM's decision to play Moore behind the plate. They were wondering why Scivicque couldn't play first, leave Hale at 2nd and not let Rob sit the bench. Hale's play at 2nd is pretty Damn good. Scivicque does pretty good at 1st and both hit a whole lot better than KRob who keeps choking in pivotal situations offensively. Yes KRob made a nice play yesterday at 2nd but I've seen nice plays by Hale there as well.

Dont know what you have seen out of scivicque at 1st that makes you comfortable with him playing that position in an important game.

I'd rather have Scivicque bat over KRobs.

CPM has said in interviews that Nola prefers Moore, so he gives him Moore.

Simple.

His catching has improved from the beginning of the season for sure.

Would you be ok with groundballs going under scivicques glove, not having range at first, and pickoff throws going into right field with your ace on the mound? Giving up cheap runs?

These are all things that can happen when you have someone playing first base who isnt that good at it.

I suspect CPM is aware Scivicque is a better hitter than Robertson at this time. Still, he decided that playing Robertson at second over Scivicque at first benefitted the team more.

We all want out best hitters in the lineup but baseball, as I feel you're aware,is about more than just hitting.

Lucky for us Nola pitched another gem. Or we might have needed those base hits with runners in scoring position that we got from KRob yesterday, oh wait that didn't happen and it didn't happen in the SEC Tourny either. Apparently a batting average of around .200, it doesn't happen much.

Robinson is not very good at the plate, but he does a good job at 2nd base. I cringe everytime he comes up to bat, but with Nola pitching we don't usually need as many runs to win the game. So the difference in offensive production is probably not that big of a deal.

Agreed that we probably don't need that much offense. Also agree that Nola should have who he wants behind the plate. Question is, why does scivicque have to sit the bench when his offense has been good for us. Hale is excellent at 2nd and has been all year, why move him to first. Put Scivicque at first leave Hale at 2nd and don't use KRob.

Moore has been catching Nola since they were in little league together.

His name is robertson, not robinson, and he battles at the plate. Reminds me alot of austin nola his rookie year. He is going to be a good one. I just hope him starting last night means he is considering staying next year.
