Oregon is replacing one player that got drafted and no one here thinks we'll be better. The 3 guys on our dline were undrafted and undersized. However, you are going to replace two 1st day draft picks out of your 4 interior spots and 3 seniors to boot but will be better?

thing about it is yes. the guys on our d line starting this year are all potential first day draft picks. they're just all young and won't get drafted for another couple years.

by the time montgomery, brockers, downs, fergusun, johnson, mingo, and rascoe are hanging up the P&G they could all be potential first day draft picks. it's science.

Rascoe, your true frosh DE, and Ferguson will be lucky to play a part. Mingo is a situational pass rusher and Montgomery a WDE. Freak is a true frosh and Brockers seems to be the only one you've listed that is salient to this conversation. Yeah, he seems like the best of the 4 INTERIOR spots outside of Baker. Something happens to Baker or Brockers and your interior will be a major questionmark.

no i agree with you that in this particular game the amount of potential talent we have will not help us. And the inexperience if anything will hurt us if brockers were to go down with injury. I was just trying to make the point that there is a potential for our dline to improve over time and I'm glad to have the luxury as an LSU fan to reload instead of rebuild.

You think your interior run defense in the first game of the season will be better than last year's replacing Nevis, Pep, and Sheppard? I, mean, seriously you think that? I guess it's possible but is it realistic?

Neither you nor I know how good LSu's or Oregons individual units will perform the first game of the year at this point.

also josh downs has gotten some pt. he'll be in there with brockers as the regulars. I'm much more concerned with the lb positions than the dline based of of depth alone. lack of experience is the case in both situations but i think the dline has a better chance at success right away than the lbers.

I do. time to prepare and our d is sick nasty. Especially with taylor and sam looking 100%.

The o is going to come from Jefferson and the rbs. Did you not see cotton bowl highlights?

We wooped up on what the media was calling the hottest team in the country. And we did it with time to prepare and in the same stadium.

Even if we dont score in the 30s i still think it will be a beat down. As in our d is going to put the beat down on james and thomas.

We don't know but we can also say that you probably won't be as good as Auburn's interior last year. That would probably be safe.

I can also say that Holmes, York and Kaiser (our interior oline last year) didn't go above 290. Likewise, this year I will bet you that York gains weight this offseason, that Armstrong gets back his playing weight (close to 300 punds), and that Clanton or Cody wins the right guard spot (both 300), and that our interior will be bigger and stronger (better lift numbers as well). This has been a huge issue the last two seasons.

Of course, what I worry about is one of our olinemen missing an assignment. However, Greatwood has been very good at assembling olines the best decade.

come back when you got a guy that is 6'6 340 to run behind. i dont belive in this weight bullshite. I heard from lsu fans all last off season that shep wasnt big enough at mlb.

Not a big diff between 290 and 300. But between 290 and 340 there is.

Yeah, dude, Magee would make our fricking three deep.
Well, at least we agree.

And it appears that Rivals agrees with me on Defensive secondary:

LINK

ETA: Actually, it appears they agree with me on every point, except Offensive backfield. . .because they combine QB and RB.

Darron Thomas and James are better than JJ and Ware. I have conceded that already

We are better in units and depth, though.

No, you said the secondary would be lots better. My comment is that we are stacked too and that the units aren't that far apart. That link pretty much bolsters my point.

Also, Magee making the #3 . I mean it could be that the kid is the second coming of Barry Sanders but man you guys go nuts over a tweet.

What you should worry about is Les's stellar record when given more than a week to prepare for a game. The man simply wins when he has extra time. If not for the worst field conditions ever, he'd be undefeated at LSU in OOC.

Indeed.

Seems they agree.

Well okay, I was going to say #2, but I was giving Barner the benefit of the doubt.

So, 2 then?
