re: Curious: how many people here expect an LSU beat-down of Oregon?

honest question, what do you think the problem was against Auburn?
Our offense. I think the defense played well enough to win. That was all I expected of them. I think our interior couldn't contain their 4 man rotation of 300 pound DT with Fairley in particular. That, and DT made some poor reads that could've unlocked that defense.

Our offense.
im asking about the running game specifically. The one that is hands down the most talented in the nation.

Our offensive line. What happened to your run game against Auburn
You guys barely did better with the all american line.

Bisonduck, you guys lost 5 of your front 7 and in the process:
Your top five in terms of sacks
Your 2nd and 3rd leading tacklers
4 of your top 5 in tackles for loss
Couple that with the Harris situation, and i think its a pretty big stretch to think you guys wont miss a beat.
I don't think we just don't miss a beat but I think we're better on defense next year.
The guys filling in are more talented and have played a lot of snaps. More than Harris we would miss Alonso. His inclusion on the team is still up in the air.
However, you guys looked really lackluster against some mediocre talent last year. OUr defense will be as good as WVU and probably better.
Unless JJ plays well, you guys will languish on offense.
So every single guy coming in is better than the guy who started last year?

our most talented backs were 2 and 3 on the depth chart.
and our offense was hardly as good as Oregons.
point is. Oregon's backs look good until they leave the left coast.

Clay will be an upgrade. He will have to develop the leadership and experience but he has enough experience the past two years to transition well. Likewise, Kaddu will be one of the best linebackers in the country.

What all American offensive line? While our oline was solid last year, yalls was probably better. Our oline definitely imrpoved with the year of experience and losing barksdale. A lot of players and coaches have said that he was not good for the continuity of the line, and he is the only one we lost.

Yeah. You guys looked like shite against Auburn too. In fact, their rush defense made everyone look like crap.

I'm starting to get the picture here. All of Oregons guy will be better than the guys last year whereas LSU's guys will not.

I could not disagree more.
QB: Oregon (this is a given)
OL: LSU(last year UO)
RB: Oregon, we have 4-5 RB's that would be starter for you. Actually know us, and then talk.
WR:LSU(last year UO though by far)
TE: Oregon(we have some great ones and we will feature them this year even more then our WR's)
OC: Oregon, though our OC aint shite, its our HC that runs our O, so Chip Kelly all the way.
DL: LSU (this is a given)
LB: Oregon (this year you have newbs, last year it would be LSU)
DB: Oregon, though LSU's are also very great. UO just happens to have the best DB's in CFB, LSU would be #3rd in nation after Bama.
DC: LSU (this is a given)
Keep in mind, LSU was ranked 11th last year for giving up points on D. Oregon was 12th. So if you think LSU had an incredible D, UO is only one inch behind you. Also, we at UO really believe our D will be much better then last year. I do too. I think you will see UO has the overall better D in Dallas and that is not even including Offenses which, lets face it, #1 in America, and LSU was like 60th or something bad. UO's O might be down 2-3 notches for this game, which might give you a chance of hanging with us. But our D is way overlooked. But you will find out soon enough.
holy shite

Yeah, right. The original poster that gave the position by position breakdown gave LSU better marks than anyone.

I think the game will be close. The people on here that think we will blow Oregon out are crazy imo.
Check that.
I'm more concerned about the L.S.U. defense opening up the season against a high powered offense in their first game without Nevis, Sheppard and Peterson. Expect the LB's and DB's to be out of position and to get burned numerous times during the game. Should be close and high scoring.
Could come down to the final series like against NC in the season opener last year, where Lady Luck stepped in and caused those two wide open Tar Heel receivers (Or was it TE's) to drop game winning passes on the last two plays of the game.

I have confidence the LSU D will be more able to force Oregon to pass the ball, than the Oregon D will be able to make LSU pass the ball.
LSU and Jefferson wouldn't know what to do without 8 in the box.
The North Carolina game last year was a severe let down before the ball was even kicked off. When the first half ended, so did the LSU energy level.
I'm looking forward to a real game this year, so here's hoping your program doesn't f*** things up with any more suspensions.

I think Oregon can run on LSU. I hope we don't get forced into throwing without establishing a run game. That would spell doom.

Yes, I agree. Auburn shut it down about the same way I see LSU doing it. And Auburn did it against a better offense than LSU is going to see in Sept.
I know what the final score was in that game against Auburn, but the score was not exactly representative of what actually happened on the field.

Your dline will not do what Auburn did. Sorry, but they had 3 senior DTs and a senior Mike.
Please bring it when you talk to me. What exactly makes you think that you will be as tough on the toughest interior from last year?
Auburn was by far better against the run than LSU. You lose Pep, Nevis, and Sheppard. Please, for the love of God, tell me why you will be better.
Let me guess: Freak the true frosh, the oft injured Downs, your makeshift Mike in Hatcher, inexperienced Minter?
