He has 2 years of leverage. I think if he makes the decision before the draft, next year draft could be more lucrative. If he waits till after being selected, teams may hold that against him. Will he bet on himself? We will see

The amount of guys here who don't understand "why wouldn't you make a choice exclusively on the basis of money" really reflects society.

I won't knock the kid if he leaves. I'll even understand it.

But to not even be able to fathom saying "this is what makes me happy. I'll never get this back. There's no price on that" says more about you, and what it doesn't say is "im just so savvy". It says "money above all"

You don’t post new NIL apparel on your IG during the last week of the season if your not coming back !

Did you listen to his interview last week? He literally said he wishes he didn’t have an early birthday so he didn’t have a decision to make. He wants to be at LSU
If he wanted to be at LSU then he'd be at LSU. He also wants to go the MLB.

And because of it wishes the decision would be forced on him.

Well he is currently at LSU and is contemplating whether he wants to run it back at LSU or not. I’m not sure what you’re trying to say that opposes my statement that he wishes he didn’t have to make a hard decision right now?

Look, he would rather stay at LSU. He loves LSU!! Derek would love to develop another year here and maybe have a Crews like year. So much better than the minor league life. Derek also wants to take care of his family. His number is north of 5m to move on.

Bro his signing bonus is going to be over $4M. You describe the situation as if he’s going to settle and run the family business. He’s getting this money in pursuit of another dream, making the show.

Less if he gets hurt or plays poorly. I think you’re being a bit naive.

Maybe there’s insurance he can get if he plays next season, but I wouldn't trust the policy to pay out if needed.

What am I being naive about?

I understand the money. I also understand it's ok (and good) to know how to value non-monetary things, and that value is different for everyone.

Money is important in life but not everything. I wonder if this year left a sour taste in his mouth & he wants to possibly run it back next year.
