"Miles figures he's got another year at LSU even if this season is only 8 wins. He's given his friend Crouton a year to function with Gonzales or pack his bags. I think this could backfire in CLM's face but thats his decision as it is his job."
I think that's exactly right. Crowton was also allowed to look around last year (remember the Chicago rumors?), so I imagine Miles decided to bring in BG regardless of whether GC stayed. There can be no doubt that BG will have significant input into game planning and play calling.

Should "force" him to become a better QB coach instead of playing dungeons and dragons in the booth

This makes it appear that for all intents and purposes that Billy Gonzales is the de facto offensive coordinator except in name and that Crowton is on his way out at the end of the season, whereby it will become official that Billy Gonzales becomes the official offensive coordinator if the offense this season performs according to its potential.

i'm willing to bet a lot of money that les miles and gary crowton are not buddies at this point
I'd be willing to bet whatever you wager X2. They may act in a very professional manner, but they don't exactly see eye-to-eye when it comes to playcalling. And it's because Miles has let Crowton call whatever plays he wants during games.

I remember the last time we had some "co-coordinators".....
I do too. When we had co-defensive coordinators they took a gem of a defense and turned it into a turd. Co-offensive coordinators are starting with a turd and worse case scenario will finish with another one.

When you pair this with that fact that he doesn't even talk to his QB during games
He talks to the QBs all of the time. You know those phones on the sideline? We keep those there to order our post-game meals faster.

Yeah we need someone to talk to the guys right after. I like this move

Gonzales threw out over half the play book. He is OC in all but title.

Gonzales has never called plays before. He was under Urban Meyer for the last 9yrs... He brings a lot to the table but I don't think it's fair to say that he is the offensive coordinator in all but title.

It's been absolutely pathetic for the last two seasons to watch two young QBs (Lee and Jefferson) come off the sideline and not one coach talks to them about what they are seeing.

heard the opposite from someone more credible than Buddy
that list could include anyone from my 3 y/o son to Billy Gonzales himself.

Buddy is wrong (again). Miles said in his presser this evening that Crowton would be in the booth and Gonzales will be on the field. That pretty much ends this debate.

This place is hilarious. The stuff some people can come up with. IF Crowton was on the field and BG was in the box, it would mean NOTHING. Just that they are changing some perspectives within their roles. If they don't have a top 50 offense this year, you guys will get your wish and Crowton will be gone. BUT, I'm of the belief that we will see a ton of improvement because of better QB play (experience) and better WR play (much less of receivers running wrong routes and lack of timing). We have had deeper issues than just one guy (Crowton). People that blame him only look at the surface. This all begins with Miles.

These are all unfounded bs remember Crowton wanted BG in 2007 but couldnt get him at that time.
I think BG is solely here to help crowton with the QB's and I think he made the lateral move this time because he thinks there may be an opening if our offense sucks this year.
Hopefully this addition does not turn into a co defensive coordinator nightmare of 2008 and confuse the QB even more.

Until I hear Les say it himself, I don't buy for 1 second that BG will be in the booth. That makes no sense. They will both be on the sidelines before BG is in the booth.
