He gets a lot of crap on here, but he is serving a purpose right now. Everyone agrees that the regular attenders have “forgotten” how to be good fans. He is reminding everyone that watching a game is an audience participation activity. It might seem cheesy or silly for him to say that the team feeds of the fans’ energy or that they need to hear the crowd make some noise, but eventually those ideas willl stick. The crowd will begin to be more active and once that starts, it will build on itself.
As to the crowd bein weighted to older people- those are younger people of the Dale Brown era. They were hooked then and have been loyal season ticket holders for the past 30-40 years. In recent years there hasn’t been a consistent product to draw in younger people/families and Leo them coming back year after year. A couple more seasons of Wade and we should have a good solid fan base of repeat season ticket holders of all ages.

I think it’s that the average LSU fan is not very knowledgeable when it come to college basketball. Knowledgeable fans know when to get excited when the team needs them and when the team doesn’t.
The clowns behind me last night kept asking why Naz was on the bench in the second half. “Is he hurt?”
No, moron. He has 4 fouls. People don’t have a clue about what they’re watching. It’s a shame the energy in the PMAC is so terrible these days.

At the game last night, the DJ pretty much made the student section stand up and cheer, but everybody else in the PMAC were sitting down. It is no way purely the students fault

In the 80's and 90's -- 100% of the crowd was not also distracted by their iPhones!!!! Look around next time, when you're in the PMAC -- and see how many, no matter what sex/age -- are looking at their iPhones when play is going on.

All it will take is a couple of years of winning and a run or two in the NCAA tourney and things will change.
Shoot eventually people will even start irrationally complaining about Wade. That’s when you know you have arrived.

I just don’t understand it. It’s like a football game. Yell and make noise when the other team has the ball. Distract them when they’re at the FT line.
It’s toally OK to make noise at a game. No one is gonna think you’re weird. Get off your phones and act like you want to help influence the outcome of the game.

It's funny how many old people go to the games. It's a like a damn retirement retreat in there
Yep, sometimes I sit behind the visitors bench, and there’s oldies EVERYWHERE!

You’re prob right. People don’t wanna get too enthusiastic about a team until they’re proven winners.
For those of us who have been there through all the shite years, it’s that much sweeter.

I bet you’re the life of the party wherever you go. If people would prefer to drink beer at a sporting event (I do) then it’s their prerogative. frick you and the horse you rode in on.

Yea, dude gets all kinds of shite on here, but at least he was trying to get students involved. I never sat down for a basketball game the entire time I was in the student section at LSU.

LMAO at all of the OLD people, OLD farts comments on these boards. Was there (Cow Palace) for Pete, there for Shaq, CJ and the rest. And now I'm paying while a large majority of you kids can't pull your heads out of your assphones. Given the constant derision of older people, I would guess some of you would never want to make it to such a pathetic state, lol
@tigerbaiter1033, not directed at you personally, don't know you

As cheesy/lame/annoying as I find the DJ to be, I almost agree with what you are saying. But that dude is such a clown when his mic is on. I want to punch him in the nads when he is doing the "small fry" cam and he keeps calling them "baby tigers".
When the games become "important" (SEC play), the place will be loud again. And besides football, the community has proven that it will support a winner if given a chance.
If freaking gymnastics can fill the PMAC on a constant basis, then it can happen again for men's basketball. It will just take time.

Definitely needs to be back on the sideline with seats coming down to the floor.
The student seats on the side never came close to the floor anyway. You had two rows of media then wheelchair rows. It basically started halfway up the lower level.
The students stopped showing up for years and lsu did the smart thing and made the old student section high dollar tickets.
Students need to stop bitching about seat location and actually be loud for games. The students have not stood for more than about 5 seconds all year.

People would rather be on their phones. And this is coming from someone who’s only 24.
This is the absolute truth. I can’t believe how many people have glowface during games. I was at LSU from 87-92 during the CJ/Shaq years and that place was packed and VERY loud. No phones to distract fans and everyone was engaged.

1. 3rd game of season
2. We’ve had like 1 good season the past 15 years so we have few “basketball fans” and even less casual fans
3. It’s always loud for big games (read:Kentucky)
