sorry if germans, but apparently Les has decided to redshirt him. I like the call mainly because he came over late, and our safeties are booked for this year, he would be wasting a year waiting to play. He has also decided to redshirt Davenport and Logan, which I also think is smart.

quote:

LOSTON TO BE REDSHIRTED: True freshman safety Craig Loston, who played only in LSU's opening game, will be redshirted, Miles said. Loston, the No. 1 safety in the country out of the Houston area, joined the team just a week before the season opener as his eligibility was not passed by the NCAA Clearinghouse until late August.

He also has been bothered by a hand injury that may require surgery.

"That has not been scheduled yet," Miles said.

Miles said he also plans on redshirting defensive tackle Chris Davenport of Mansfield and defensive end Bennie Logan of Red River High in Coushatta.

With the surgery yet to be performed, it's the smartest thing to do.

He will apply for a medical redshirt once his eligibility is done with IF he stays that long.

Good move no need wasting a year on a guy who will only play special teams. Although if Loston i as good as advertised he won't be around for 4 more years.

actually, it will lock him in given the CBA coming down the pipe will not allow/guarantee top money for early leaving students.

he's going to miss out on the early payday if that good.

Im glad he's redshirting. I think they should have rs shep as well. I can understand Downs and Randle not redshirting. With the Hicks Disaster and a possible WR injury away from having them playing huge roles

No need to. If he doesn't play another snap all season, he will be a Redshirt Freshman next season.

He ha ALREADY played and thus a redshirt is not possible...at least from my recollection of the policy.

They can submit a medical waiver since he only played in one game and get his redshirt back. It happens all the time.

they've been talking about that hand thing for a while. last year in case they ended up redshirting jefferson he had a "shoulder injury."

not a bad move, considering hatcher and mccray are there.

JJ was NOT redshifted last year.

Also, I think a medical redshift CANNOT be applied for until eligibilty is completed.
