No they didn't. They came back with the intentions of improving their draft stock

Not really how the baseball draft works.

Thanks for your service. People like you allow me to be the loud and obnoxious cajun that everyone on here loves dearly.

PM's resume seems pretty stinking good to lay it all on the head coach

He has some significant flaws. As you probabaly know the difference between winning and losing a baseball game almost always comes down to the decisions made in situational baseball. PM hasnt been making the right ones lately.IMO I don't think PM knows the the identity of his team yet. That happens when you have a bunch of inexperienced players.early season injuries somewhat handcuffed him too though.

I appreciate the thanks, but not necessary. We all do something in life so I appreciate y'all too (I'm from NW Louisiana, so I'm a yankee to you).

I see what you're saying. But didn't we have a team like this in 08 (year prior to championship) or something that ended up putting it together later in the season for a record finish? I was in Afgh reading about it at the time so I could certainly look it up.

I HAVENT necessarily understood some of his pitching change or running decisions of late, but I will say I didn't understand the nuances of why some of those decisions were made even when I was playing (I remember distinctly sitting in the dugout going "why in the hell was I sent in that situation to a fellow player).

Situational hitting can be mental and I don't completely agree that is all on a coach. Mental makeup is mental makeup. There are drills you can do, sure, but I just don't see the why the whole group is laying it all on Gibbs and PM. 6 runs isn't bad at all. Hell, didn't we outscore Georgia by 100 runs? I realize Georgia isn't the best team but 20 runs in a game is hitting....

CPM has no concept on how to play small ball. It's a shame when your catcher is the only one last night that actually bunted a ball in play. If you are a D1 player and you cannot lay down a bunt you should not be playing. Stealing bases and moving runners is the way you win games. Need to mix up the line up bottom half performing better than top

I knew guys on my own team that couldn't bunt well at ALL. That said, I agree a mix works especially for potential speed/slap situations.

Well let's see we can now add one more excuse to CPM rationalizations:

"Went with my gut"
"Thought we had it won"
"Just played Sunday"

Can't wait for next!

Ell/Rickdaddy or anyone in the know... I played through high school and some in college. Could it just be that we have a few freshmen taking time to adjust to situational hitting or is that a similar makeup to other D1 teams currently? I ask because is it Gibbs' practice approach because I remember that I had a good hitting coach but sometimes it takes time to translate for the younger guys. PM's resume seems pretty stinking good to lay it all on the head coach.

The top of the lineup, all upper classmen, went a combined 2 for 15 last night. Can't blame it on freshman. You can blame Mainieri for giving the Jordan twins fricking scholarships. Those kids are not LSU baseball players. Where does Kramer Robertson rank as an LSU shortstop in the last 20 years? This LSU team has an elite talent problem.

LSU's batting stats are solid, pitching is struggling, especially mid week.

If he truely gives them an "off" day, he can go find somewhere else to coach. There was no "off" day back in the day. Yeah, I know what the NCAA rule states but other top programs and coaches aren't doing that!

Haven't you learned? On the Rant if a player doesn't get a base hit his last at-bat, he's not LSU caliber.....

He was selected to the All-SEC team with a .290 BA. He had only 2 games last year with more than 2 hits. He was 7th on the team in RBIs. The only thing he did really well last year was get hit by pitches.

My bad.

I guess I didn't realize players who are out for the year with an injury are being criticized for their play.
