My friend and his girlfriend were struck by a vehicle leaving Tigerland early this morning. My friend is on life support and his girlfriend was dead on scene.

Happened around 2am near Nicholson. Driver drove through a barricade of some sort and ran over the couple, then took off.

Please say some prayers. He was a career firefighter and she was a wonderful human being.
Anyone hear anything please post. TIA.

**Update : 19 year old drunk girl was caught for the vehicular homicide.

ETA: My buddy passed away. Two beautiful lives lost too soon. Tell your family and friends you love them.

Take some solace that BRPD and LSP are pretty good with hunting down hit and run drivers in situations like this.

Prayers for your friends.

I just walked into work this morning and heard about it. Some of the details are second hand from a girl who was struck too, and the family, so we’ll see what happens.

I’ve walked that same road from Tigerland back in the day, it’s so dangerous and dumb but you never think it’s going to happen.

I don’t think they’re keeping him on life support, but we’ll see, doesn’t sound good. Appreciate the prayers.

I’m sure the driver will be caught within the day. That’s absolutely awful and a wild thing to get on and see

I’m really surprised this isn’t on the news

The big headline on WAFB this morning is about a girl celebrating her birthday in a McDonald’s parking lot

ETA: Looks like WAFB reads the OT

Wasn’t that area under some local pressure by the bar owners for starting the construction at the start of the football season?

Not all hit and runs, but ones with fatalities/serious injury.

For your average hit and run you’re out of luck but they’ll find this one.

Two sets of parents woke up this morning to their worst nightmare. You do everything right to raise good children and this shite can still take them from you in an instant.

I'm so sorry to hear this. The city would be wise to treat the area about 1000ft on either side of the light at Tigerland as a school zone. It is so dark out there, and people are walking everywhere. Increased lighting, signage, and a reduced speed limit at certain times would make the area infinitely safer.

Strange there is nothing on any of the local news stations about this.

Man you’re not lying. Just got off the phone with my wife and she was tearing up thinking about how to protect our son. I just said we can only do our best to teach him to make good decisions, but we can’t protect him from others who make bad ones. Being a parent is scary as hell when you hear this type of news.

Here is an article on WBRZ from August. As details about last night emerge, it might make this seem all the more tragic.

I agree. The only thing we’re thinking is they haven’t released any news as they try to find footage of the vehicle.

Most on this forum hate on the ALPR/Flock camera system but it's working overtime on this case and will find the hit & run douchebag
