Could it be the year LSU escapes its 3-loss trilogy to reach College Football Playoffs?

quote:

"We're going to kill it on offense," Marshall said. "Can't wait to see what we do." With Brady, LSU is planning on quick releases and short passes by Burrow that will go more to tight ends and tailbacks than in the past. Senior Stephen Sullivan is a converted wide receiver with tight end size at 6-foot-6 and 235 pounds, and sophomore transfer tight end Thaddeus Moss appears healthier after missing last season with a foot injury.

quote:

And there will be more use of the spread attack with three, four and sometimes wide receivers in the game. After Jefferson, Marshall and Chase, look for freshmen signees Trey Palmer and Devonta Lee to contribute if not senior Derrick Dillon or senior Dee Anderson - if he returns from suspension. "Our wide receiver position is about the strongest on the football team," Orgeron said. "We have a lot of depth there. Justin Jefferson is maturing. He's phenomenal. We'll use him a lot more in the short passing game. We're going to run the spread offense. It's in. It's in the playbook. So it's not a threat, I promise you that. We're going to run it. I expect those two (Ensminger and Brady) to run a very prolific offense led by Joe Burrow. This is Joe's type of offense. Joe is a dual-threat quarterback." The quick, short pass offense will fit the offensive line, which returns four starters, but does not have elite talent, other than Cushenberry and possibly true freshman guard Kardell Thomas down the road. Thomas, though, missed practice on Wednesday with an injury, and Orgeron said he could miss significant time.

quote:

"The thing that we need to do first is get rid of the ball quicker," Orgeron said. "We can't hold the ball. Now, if we get better in pass protection, we can take bigger drops and hold the ball a little bit longer. But now, the quick throwing game is important, so Joe's not getting hurt. We do need him to run, though. He's too valuable as a runner. We just need to pick and choose our spots."

quote:

"It's one of the best defensive backfields I've been around in a long time," said Orgeron, who was at USC and Miami in those schools' heydays. "Grant Delpit is probably the best - not probably - he is the best defensive player coming back in the country this year." And Delpit can't stop watching Stingley, who moves as if he is smaller than 6-1 and 195. "He's better as a freshman than I was," Delpit said. "He's more advanced than I was coming in as a freshman. I would say that for anybody but him. He's so big, but his footwork is so quick at the same time. He's just a freak, man." Stingley will also be returning punts. "He's as advanced a freshman as I've ever been around," Burrow said. "This is just a very talented team.

I don’t think we beat bama so we have to win every other game. Which I believe we can but then it’s in the hands of the voters.

I don’t think so either, and I’ve predicted 11-1.

However, anything can happen and those frickers have some karma due them.

If not now, then when?

If O can't do it this year, then he won't ever do it.

2 losses won't do it either, podnuh. You gotta go 11 & 1 to get the playoff berth - GENERALLY. Looking at the schedule, we do have a shot at 11 & 1. I just hope the head coach doesn't try to sit on any leads in the 4th qtr. Keep the foot on the gas, Orgeron, Dabo does.

I would take 3 losses exactly every year until the day i die. You realize that is a 10 win season every year. Imagine LSU never having a rebuilding year, ever.

All of this! I’m excited that O realizes the team has to use the quick passes, not just the heavy run and long developing play action. It’s way past time LSU plays aggressive and keeps the foot down. We have the personnel to do it. 11-1 is achievable and even 12-0 with a little luck.

In other words, you wouldn’t ever have wanted LSU to fire Les. He was doing that every year.

And no, 3 losses a year isn’t a 10 win season. It’s a 9 win season. Bowl games (outside the CFP) don’t mean shite. We played fricking UCF in the bowl game last year. UCF. Lol!!

This year isn’t a rebuilding year. This is a CFP year.

I really don't like having to be hard on any poster, but I just can't quit thinking about what a wussy comment that was. Holy cow.

I was suspended twice last year for using profanity insulting a fellow poster, so these days, I don't take any chances. Admin never explained whether I was suspended for the profanity, the insult, or both.

The only pussies on this board are the ones saying LSU shouldn’t be expected to make the CFP this year. #fact

I could not agree more. We've finally got a very bright, veteran qb, very good receivers and backs, pretty good o-line but with a new quick-strike offense that will take pressure off the o-line. Aranda's unit will be very good as well. Definitely the year!
