He played all of Friday night and has flexibility at the end of the finger.
If pain tolerance is the issue, why not DH to keep the bat in the lineup and let someone else play the field?

You should email this to the coaching staff. I'm sure they didn't even think of that.

Potentially against a lefty.

When arguably the best hitter in the country suffers a minor injury like this unless its do or die you sit him.

Best to let it heal completely or risk injuring it even worse (see Milazzo).

Is this not a discussion board? Oh s it not worth discussing your best player and getting him back in the lineup?
I’m sure the staff has thought of all options available, but since none of us are on the staff and have any idea the true severity of the injury or their thoughts on the issue, I thought a discussion board was a good lace to ponder

Yes. I hope they splint it up and it looks like he's flipping everybody off when he's hitting.

I think it's worth discussing and since none of us are in that coaching circle... how would we know that emailing JJ isn't necessary.

That was kind of my point. I think your idea is probably what will happen. From what Johnson said this morning, I think he won't play tomorrow and they will evaluate again on Friday. Wouldn't be surprised if they DH him this weekend, not only for health purposes, but also to make sure they have someone at 3B that can make all the throws.

I had heard or seen somewhere he was having trouble swinging left handed, so if pain tolerance is the issue I tjink The point is hitting isn’t that much better than fielding

I'm not sure we see him on defense for the rest of the season. Throwing is going to be the most difficult.

He didn't get hurt until pregame Saturday, so what he was able to do Friday is irrelevant

He is potential top 5 pick and is injured. Let him heal for post season.

Would you jeopardize more injury if it’s your kid?

He’s been hitting so well from the right side lately I’d have him batting there against either.

Is that what it is or is it that hitting left-handed exposes that right hand to getting hit and hurting it worse?

I think he'll be back as a DH sooner than he can play in the field.

I think 1-2 weeks before he's a DH and 3-4 weeks before he's in the field.
