And you sir are the ignorant one, because you can thank your modern day Democratic Party, and the likes of Jackson, Sharpton, and Farrakhan, for preaching the politics of grievance which has done NOTHING for the black race. Do you realize that this "incompetent, immoral" president as you label him, has engineered the lowest black unemployment rate EVER?????? Trump will win his second term in a landslide as I haven't been so proud to call this man my President since Ronald Reagan.

Sorry if I’m repeating, didn’t read the whole thread but Eric Reid will have none of the problems Kappernick had. Reid can start for most teams, not true of Kap, and he doesn’t play QB so, it won’t be as much of a distraction. That’s what kept teams away from Kappernick more so than the protests themselves.

Look at NO, the team kneeled in week 3. LA polticians wanted to cut funds from state. No owner will sign kneelers in a red state.

Great article from Andrew Lopez. He's a great writer.

I have no issue with Reid sticking to his principles, and I have no issue with fans and teams sticking to theirs.

I hope he plays, because I'm a fan of LSU players and Reid in particular. But I understand if he doesn't get picked up. It is what it is. Sounds like he understands too.

I will say that he is not the same as Kaepernick. He's been much more quiet about it, not seeking attention to the same level. He's also much better at football and his position than Kaepernick, and I think that will be taken into consideration.

You liberal dumbass- Your hero Obama created "a war on police and law enforcement mentality" from day one of his presidency. How did that work for race relations?

wait wait wait, this may have been addressed, but i cant go through all 7 pages here. Does he really believe that he is the only person to get pulled over by an a-hole cop and written an unjust $100 ticket? Since this incident supposedly changed his life to show how racist cops are, does he truly believe that they did this because hes black, or a 20 year old punk trying to go down a street that was clearly blocked off? and lastly, does anyone really believe, as the article implies, that he would throw his career away for these "principles". Surely i missed something here.

Easy to say sitting in your ivory tower. Victim mentality? Either you are clueless or you are complicit.

For any white person to claim blacks are treated no different that whites, like some of you are alleging, is asinine and disingenuous. Every metric on life in America clearly shows life in America is totally different between blacks and whites. Unemployment? Blacks twice that of whites. Sentencing? Blacks receive much longer sentences than whites for the same crime. Drug use? Whites and black use drugs at similar rates Go to drug court and who do you see? Mortgages? Whites who are less educated, with less income and lower credit scores get loans approved over blacks.

The least a fair minded person would do is recognize the difference. To dismiss or ignore the difference life experiences speaks volumes about the character of a person. Far too many want to turn a blind eye to the history of racism in America. I guess because they and their ancestors benefited from it. But to recognize the brutal history of racism, slavery and Jim Crow would preclude one from dismissing the ravishes and their continuing effect on blacks in America.

A racist is incapable of recognizing the devastating effect of his racism on those he is racist against. He doesn't see them as equal humans. Thus the racist will always blame the victim of racism and use terms like victim mentality, race baiters, race card, reverse discrimination, race pimps, quotas, etc. That is what they do. Unfortunately LSU fandom includes far too many of them.

It’s hard for ignorant, redneck racists to understand but blacks and folks of color are treated differently.

Did you read the article? nothing in the article pointed towards Eric Reid ever being treated differently b/c of his race. If he has experiences with that, then it wasn't present in that article.

There is no system that promotes poverty and injustice. No one is stopping anyone from going to school in this country. No one is stopping anyone from getting a job. No one is stopping anyone from working hard at that job and moving up at that job. And if you live in a state like LA, it's been real easy to attend college for basically free the last 15+ years.

People who think racism still exists, they are part of the problem. WHy do we have to make laws for racial and gender equality? All that does is encourage racial and gender inequality.

I tend more to this, your views are a little outdated and narrow minded, no offense intended but that's a little behind the times

The law would be illegal on its face if it treated blacks and whites differently. it's the enforcement of the law that is the problem. Every metric shows blacks receive harsher penalties for the same crime. If you really believe there is no difference, you need to do some research. Again I am addressing fair minded nonracist people. You may or may not fit in that category.

I didn't mention Sterling or Brown. Or the guy who was shot in the back. Or the one in Minnesota who had a concealed carry permit and was shot in front of his fiance and baby. Or the 12 year old shot in a park. Or the police department in Georgia that was filled with white supremacists who planted drugs and guns on black people. It is right before your eyes of you choose to look. However I recognize that hate rots brains and blurred vision.
