1) Congrats on the win. I could tell the LSU players wanted to prove they were not the team that struggled at times during the year. You guys whipped us good last night.

2-a) I enjoyed spending time on the Rant the past few weeks. There are some great, open-minded, football knowledgeable posters on here.

2-b) I see that after a big win those thar are not football smart tend to show up. Same with any board.

3) Jordan Jefferson is your man...have no idea why it took so long to get him going this year. No blue why Lee would play over him other than experience...which certainly did not show in all the pick-6's he threw.

4) Disappointed in Mile fake punt during the 4th quarter with a 5 TD lead. That does not show a lot of respect for the kids wearing the other jerseys or the other coaches that share your profession. As a former college athlete...collegiate sports are a small fraternity...you have to be respectful at all times.

5) I was proud that our defense manned up the second half and kept LSU out of the endzone despite LSU trying desperately to score. It is hard to play tough defense in a situation such as last night. The kids fought.

6) At the end of the day, GT special teams lost this game. It started with the opening kickoff out of bounds and tumbled from there.

7) GT played like a team that starts 16 freshman and sophomores...and only 3 seniors. I said this on Tiger Rant in an early December post...if the GT players get starry-eyed with the bowl game and a couple things go wrong...they probably will not know how to stop it. I think the youth was apparent in the first half particularly. A good friend of mine that is an avid Paul Johnson follower of 20 years said that our offense runs his plays as slowly as any team he has seen Paul Johnson coach...he tries to temper my anger with telling me to be patient. He warned me that we won two games more than we should have which will screw up expectations. He also thinks we need to get a QB that can decision quicker. Very easy to see why we were not consistent enough to even win an ACC division this year.

8) Paul Johnson said repeatedly in December interviews that "things are never as good or as bad as they seem"...."tnis offense is not very good yet despite what has been seen on the field in recent games.". Well..he was right. Lots of missed reads, errant passes, whiff blocks, and missed assignments.

9) The GT OL looked like pass-protectors recruited by Gailey that did not have what it took to smash-mouth a athletic and big LSU front line. This was apparent.

10) I love Charles Scott...that guy should get 20-25 carries per game. That is my type of back.

11) Had more weird experiences with LSU (probably sidewalk) fans last night. Despite being with my 9-yr old son and 7-yr old daughter...multiple fans that like to talk AT the opponents fans. I am just a 40-yr old guy (who does not drink but probably should!) with two young children walking out afterward...and had two small groups of LSU fans approach us thanking us for being "Tiger bait again this year." Some even bent down to try to slap my kids hands and thank them for being their tackling dummies! I have gone to home and away GT games for 30 years...and UGA is the only other fanbase I experience fans talking back and forth to each other...instead of talking outwardly to nobody in particular. There was even some LSU guy in our GT section (with fat girlfriend next to him...of course wearing a mid-drift and sporting a tramp stamp above her crack) that felt the need to turn and face the GT fans above him after every positive LSU play and raise his hands like he was a boxing champion. It was very strange since the average age of the two rows behind him was probably 70! It must have been some old GT alumni group of blue hairs...a strange scene! My 7-yr old daughter said that "dad...I think I like UGA fans better.". I was shocked as I have worked hard to brainwash them that UGA is the anti-Christ! Same thing happened in 2000. Maybe it was the same group of fans! I told them that every school has their bad fans...we just ran into a bunch of them last night. Like I said earlier though...I have really enjoyed the dialogue on this board the past month...some great folks on here. I wish I had met up with some of you guys instead!!!

12) I do not know how in the world you guys lost to Alabama and UGA. I truly believe that last night you would not have. It appears to me that you are light years faster and stronger than Alabama...and equally as athletic as UGA, but definitely better coached. I think JJ will be your difference maker. I predict LSU and Florida in the SEC Champsionship game next year.

13) To all of LSU...please beat Alabama and UGA next year and all coming years. The SEC has to stop the evil Nick Saban...and the pretty boy Saint Richt...year in...and year out!

Classy post. Good luck next year and I'm sure if our teams cross paths again we will see a much different performance from the Jackets.

Good post. I was not happy with the fake punt either. It's the kind of thing that some people like when you are doing it, but when it happens to you it's not. Congrats on a great season.

I really didn't understand the fake punt either, but it is Les Miles. If you follow his career here at LSU he does some weird stuff sometimes. I don't think he did it out of disrespect. He was trying to win the football game. It's hard for the other football team to win a game if they dont have the ball. Anyway, congrats to GT on the great season and good luck in 2009.

you are welcome to come here whenever you want to since you don't appear to be here just to flame, However if these 2 incident really bother you I have to really wonder. They both seem pretty lame to me.

are people in the acc such pansies to be offended by tiger bait?

Youth is the major problem that I can see and that's easily fixable. Just wait.

I see nothing wrong with the fake punt. Ask your coach about his decision to run a fake. That's the only advise I can give you.

Kids can be asses. She had a tramp stamp. What would you expect? There are plenty of good LSU fans and I'm sure our fans wouldn't have been so aggravating if ya'll had won.

Anyway, you are always welcome to come down to Baton Rouge for a game. Just come back to Tigerdroppings and we'll set you up with some advise on where to tailgate and probably some good times.

Good question. The ACC games definitely lack the "in your face" intensity between fans. It is much more like NFL football in the south...whereas SEC fan behavior is more like NFL football in the northeast (i.e. Philly, New York Jets, etc.). Although...I will say New Orleans has similar intensity. That is just my opinion.

For instance, I took my kids to see the Chargers at Tampa Bay on December 21. My sons favorite running back is L.T..so he was sporting the jersey at Tampa Bay. No one said anything bad to us at all...even a few good lucks...or kind approaches as to whether he wanted to trade his jersey for a Cadillac Williams jersey.

Another example...when we went to Notre Dame a couple of years ago and beat them by 30 pts. Before the game everyone was super nice to us. "Welcome to Notre Dame...thank you for coming...etc." I expected after the game to be quite different. Nope...we had people coming up to us with the same comments as prior to the game.

At the end of the day...there are fringe fans within all fanbases. As a whole though...I do find that fanbases at ACC game talk less to each other at games than SEC fanbases. A Vanderbilt friend of mine shared the same thought when they played at our home about 5 years ago. His exact quote, "I did not know what to do at the game without being yelled at!"

To finally respond to your direct question...it is not what you say...it is how you say it.

Regarding the game....great game by LSU...whipped us good. A sincere congrats to the game preparation and focus.

Best of luck in '09. I watched a couple of your games this year, and you're fun to watch when you're hitting all cylinders. With all the underclassmen you have, your future looks pretty good.

I can't say I was jumping for joy over the fake punt, although in today's college football world you see more and more stuff that would've been regarded as classless just a couple years ago. Not excusing here, just making an observation. I will say one thing—Les Miles looked like he has a can of roach spray up his arse last night—I mean he was yelling and scowling and stomping around like I've never seen him do in four years as our HC. Maybe his anger over our season finish—which he'd kept well hidden in public—materialised last night. Or, in Lesspeak, maybe this was a "Let 'er rip" situation ("Let 'er rip"—you gotta know the man, hard to explain otherwise). I dunno.

Anyway, you're the only ACC team I found at all exciting in '08. You really play a cool brand of football and I'll catch more of your games next season.

Hate to see this. Don't let it skew your perception of our fanbase. A lot of LSU fans have said the GT crowd was looking down their noses at us before the game and the reaction you saw afterward could have been part of that. Either way it is B.S. Come to a game in Tiger Stadium one day and you will probably get treated like gold.

I live in acc territory and agree that the fans are simply not fanatical about the games. The post game tailgates are about the same whether Maryland wins or loses. You hardly ever see fans arguing or in each other's faces. No where near the intensity of SEC games.

Let me help you understand a few things. The triple option is not going to work against major football teams. It is a gimmick offense. The more times a team faces it, the worse your results will be, so look forward to less victories next year. If you can't pass the ball, you can't come back and win, you can't convert on third and long. The fake punt was run because Les had the red arse at the officials on a couple of calls that kept us from scoring. I don't think it was anything to do with your team; however, that chop block deserved anything we felt like answering with short of another chop block. As for the dumbass LSU fans after the game, there's plenty of those. they were trying in rude ways to vocalize the contempt for your offense (see first two sentences above). Good luck in the future, i don't think Johnson will be there in three years.

I have always had respect for GT. Historically, they are a gamey bunch and are not to be taken lightly by anyone. One of my friends was Billy Lothridge (RIP, Billy ). When I found out GT was going to be our Bowl opponent, it struck fear in my heart.

Les Miles is a classy guy. Whatever he did last night was to get the attention of the "experts". A lot of bad stuff was said about us this year. I think it was more about damage control. We have to recruit, and he was trying to set us up for a favorable preseason ranking next year. We have a good chance to do something next year.

Please feel free to hang out on our board.

Stay with us. A lot of us are stupid too (speaking for me alone). Heh. But moreover, I wish GA Tech was back in the SEC. I really like your teams, your history, and your fan base. Classy. Happy New Year!

Classy post...good luck with next season...pesonally I have no problems with the punt even if it happened to us and as some one that played sports all my life and been on the end of some routs I always believed if you don't want the other team to run it up stop them and if you can't either take you're beating or throw in the towel teams or fans that want teams to pull up and call off the dogs is just part of the pussification of America...you play your game till that clock reads 0:00...

Insofar as #4 above is concerned please understand if you would have seen the LSU defence all year long you too may not have taken the win for granted. Also, your coach insulted LSU prior to the game saying he felt like GT should be playing a higher ranked team. With that said, I did not like the fake punt either.
