He’s old and wants to go back to the Midwest. He’s familiar w the ND program. It’s not ideal, but the talent made the offense this year.

BK isn’t like O. He’s not going to chase da Denbrock offense, or da Joe Brady offense. He’s going to make a hire and keep it moving. Fingers crossed for Sloan.

We’re losing a top tier OC. It’s a big loss. Hopefully we make an equally good hire, but there are no guarantees.

What would Dembrock be without the outstanding talent of this particular LSU offense? Really, I question that. What would Joe Brady be without that now NFL record setting offense? Talent goes a long long way into being a good, or bad, coach.

I’m sorry, but what evidence is there that points to Denbrock being top tier? He’s certainly good… very good at what he does, but top tier? 2023 is a glaring exceptionality in his career where he had elite talent (like he’s never seen before) littered all over the field.

It is a bummer. JD5 was decent at ASU and decent his first year at LSU, but how much of that improvement and confidence came from a good OC/quality play calling? A lot.

I’m not sure about that. He’s good, did OK I guess. “Top tier”?

I think he and CBK had lots of good luck last 2 years. JD and Malik caught fire, the OL surprised.

Any OC looks like a genius when pieces like that fall into place.

Do we think Denbrock developed JD5? Or Sloan? Or CBK? Likely all 3.

You lead the nation in offense and win a Heisman. You're top tier. Go look at what he did at Cincy with a bunch of 2 stars. frick ND, won't bring up what he did there.

That’s not how this works. A good offensive coordinator can look elite with the right talent in place. The talent and pieces were top tier, and it made an otherwise good offensive coordinator look top tier. He’s not among the Lincoln Riley’s of the world.

It’s not confusing at all. Time will tell whether it is warranted.

But you’re surprised people were waiting for the axe to drop on our DC + instead the first news is the OC going back to our HC’s former school + the reaction from the fan base hasn’t been positive?

Did you not watch football this year or are you just in denial? Again, time will tell — lots of conditions around this are valid reasons to be concerned.

We had the best offense in the country and lost the OC who ran it so there’s that.

I was looking forward to seeing what he could do without Daniels next year just to see how good he actually is.

Maybe Kelly can over come this hit. But it's a tough pill to swallow when the defense put up a historically terrible season and keep that coordinator. Then there's the players leaving an already depleted defense. Then there's the players from a historically good offense leaving that will be tough to overcome. The rebuild is starting all over at a time when you'd hope the team would get a step closer to UGA and Bama when Texas and OU are coming in.

Anytime you lose a coordinator you lose continuity. LSU was set to offer him a 3-yr contract which means they wanted to keep him.

None of us know the true impact he had on the overall offense or how much he was involved in the recruiting of the offensive players. But we had a Heisman trophy quarterback, two first round receivers, and one of the best offensive lines in the country. He had to have something to do with that. Our rivals will use his leaving as a negative recruiting tactic, so anytime you give them a reason to do that, it’s not good.

Depending on who we hire to replace him, our players may have to learn a brand new system.

Fans are melting because there is no loyalty and no commitment anymore in college football. Players get paid millions of dollars before stepping on campus and then leave after a year if they don’t like it. Coaches can leave anytime they want and we, the fans, the ones that are truly committed to the program, will never know the real reason.

It sucks and fans have a right to be turned off by the whole institution of college football.

Agree about denbrock. His situation makes sense.

Kelly knows offense too and promoting a younger guy could be a win win for everyone.

The biggest issue by far is house. He has to go.
