I was looking forward to seeing Rivers compete for the starting job. I know he was a darkhorse, but he looked really good in last year's spring game. Not a mobile qb, but very elusive in the pocket.

He played against the 4th string defense.

Good for him. Seems like a great kid that just got caught in the numbers game. Wish him the best.

I don't know why people don't get this. I've never understood the Rivers bandwagon.

The kid is good Tiger. He never complained, and is doing what any intelligent sensible person would do.

“I’ve always joked to him about that,” Rivers said. “Ever since he didn’t know if it was going to pan out at LSU, I’ve always kind of said, ‘Hey come out here to San Diego State, live with us and lets go share Qualcomm for a few years.’

Talk about the most badass plan B ever "Gonna move to southern california and play ball and kick it with my pro bowl brother." jelly.

he will make it in the NFL at the very least as a backup QB and maybe a starter somewhere

I hope he does, but are we talking about the same Rivers who has been at LSU three years and who Cam never let closer to the field than third string or are we talking about his brother?

He will probably go to a good Div 1 program and do very well. Then, he will make it in the NFL at the very least as a backup QB and maybe a starter somewhere. We will be left wondering in two years or so while enduring an ineffectual quarterback display at LSU, why on earth we let this guy go. Mark it down and report back.

Wow. Stephan?

Would you rather have
207/352 2600 yards 12/7 in 13 full games or
182/296 2200 yards 17/7 in less than 12 games?

And if you want to start the debate about better offenses, one's running game accumulated just over 1400 yards and 14 TDs, while the other's run game had 2250 yards and 29 TDs. The latter had way better personnel in the backfield to aid him in his first year and he still performed worse. The box was stacked in both seasons too so don't start with that crap either.
'12 OL was OK, '09 OL was one of LSU's worst in quite a while.
No run blocking and much middle pressure made 2166 quite a feat.

Y'all realize the read option is just the excuse... The real reason Rivers is transferring is because he sliding down the depth chart (I.e. not that good)

Exactly! Unfortunately, hese rantards aren't hearing you though....

LOLwut? Dude had absolutely NO chance to start at LSU in 2014. I am not bashing him in the least, as I don't come on here to bash kids. More than likely he would have found himself either 3 or 4 on the depth chart. Good luck to him. I hope he rips it up next year.

Laugh all you want, Mett was more game ready in 2012 than any QB on the LSU roster now and still struggled with some things.

It's going to be an adjustment season, probably closer to 2010 than 2012. You'll see lots and lots of running.

That had much more to do with QB coaching/playcalling and concepts than Metts experience.
